Hummer actually taken off-roading...

A friend of mine sent me this:

http://www.local6.com/news/2272794/detail.html

Some think it’s fake, because of the picture showing so much damage on the car. I think it’s more likely there was some ramming and crashing involved before that. Also, it seems to be a legit news site, I doubt they’d put a fake picture.

I’m not sure if this is of benefit to the pro or anti-suv movements.
Great reading though!

I saw the same story on CNN Headline News last night, so I assume it is probably a legit story.

Heh. Thats just awsome IMHO.

I’m not sure I totally buy this. I would imagine a Hummer could get around pretty well, but once the front bumper hits the other car I don’t see how it could just drive up and over. Look up the phrase “angle of approach” as it pertains to off-roaders.

According to the Hummer info page, the H1 has an angle of approach of 72 degrees, and 16" of ground cleareance. I don’t know what the translates into, but it sounds like it could get up on a low car.

“Should Peter face charges?”

Hell yes. I’m sorry the guy was robbed, but what the hell was he thinking? What if the chase takes them through a residential area, and he takes out a couple of kids while trying to crush the robbers?

What an idiot.

Could you proofread the “Bartender’s Guide” I’m writing for spelling and recipe errors?

Okay, that bizzare non-sequitor was supposed to go in a different thread. Boy, is my face red…

Another cite. I’m all for vigilanteism, but after reading the article, I gotta agree with Coldfire.

I don’t htink he should have chased them outside of his business, but if he wanted to fight them in his own where nobody besides them would be hurt then great. I think it’s awesome that he caught them, but it’s still too big of a risk to allow this kind of vigilanteism to take place in public. Now if he would have pulled out an AK47 and blown them away in his place that would be ok in my book.

Love it. Hope no charges are filed.

Then he faces charges.

Thats one of the “real” Hummers, by the way. Pretty wild.
