I had planned to give the show one more shot before it was deleted from my DVR but I did enjoy last night’s episode. I really liked the way that they handled his encounter with his customer. It added an interesting dimension to the lead character.
Umm they do ok in Michgian and it’s more the main characters fault for not having insurance than anything else. There are very few jobs out there that would let you pay for a new house for cash. And not to get into a debate but if teaching was so darn difficult then why don’t more people leave the profession and why are there so many candidates for the jobs
I like the show. Of course it’s fantasy but it’s interesting. Anne Heche does nothing for me but her character is starting to grow on me. I like that the kids are fat and awkard. Much more real and interesting. The most recent episode was quite good and it handled the not-so-attractive woman rather well.
Oddly enough though, once she started talking about her husband wanted to rail her every morning she got more attractive
What makes them more real and interesting by being fat and awkward? I just don’t buy that those kids are Thomas Jane and Anne Heche’s kids.
So true.
I mean, I know kids sometimes don’t look like either parent, but these two kids don’t look like they belong to the same species.
Whoever did the casting obviously did not have a clue who the parents were supposed to be.
…You’re not taking me seriously, are you?
I’m tired of hot 25 year olds playing 16 year olds. The kids seem a little more real to me. The son’s frustrating in this last episode was actually well done I thought.
Or how to keep us shallow guys interested. I hated “The Riches” but kept watching just because the daughter was so hot. Same with that Fox sitcom with Michael Rapaport that all the nerds hated because it was live action during the Sunday night cartoon lineup.
You cast a cute 21 year old actress as the teen daughter and I’ll watch your show well past it’s “best by” date. So far, Hung hasn’t boasted one single piece of eye candy for the guys. Anne Heche is a hot mess, the pimp is heinous, the daughter is a whale, and the clients are old and gross. All they have to keep me interested is the writing, so I’m hanging on by a thread.
I was, yea.
My mom’s tiny, my dad’s pretty buff, and I’ve been fat since I was a kid. Active fat, but fat nonetheless. I have 2 thin sisters and one that is wide-shouldered and constantly stresses about her weight. Skinny parents do not always lead to skinny kids.
Because 16 year olds are never thin? The only option is for 25 year olds to play teenagers? You can’t find an awkward thing actor or actress who is 16?
I think Tanya is kind of hot myself.
They get paid more than enough, with generous pensions and 3 months off.
And even if your premise were true, this show is not about that.
Now, the show is starting to bore me to tears. We’re several episodes in, and some 40-something guy (shouldn’t the stud be like 25 or something, so as to really fulfill the middle-aged hausfrau fantasies) still isn’t comfortable with bedding the fat old broads? Good lord, the theoretical 25 yo would have gotten over that hump a while ago.
I’ll probably still watch this as it’s sunday night hbo, and I’m really getting into True Blood, but really, this guy doesn’t strike me as real or identifiable in any way.
The problem is that labor laws are different for actors who are under 18. They have to have tutors and they can’t work as many hours. They could have 18 and 19 year olds instead of 25 year olds though.
Me too.
What’s the problem with having ugly kids? It works for this show as it’s sort of a show about losers. Most teenagers are awkard and none too attractive. These kids fit the mold. It also works for dramatic purposes as they serve up a variety of plot points.
Jesus Harold Christ, everybody keep your pants on. It was a(n apparently awful) joke. Get it? A guy works for the public schools and finds himself having to be a hooker on the side?
Okay, heinous was a bit strong. For a 44 year old character actress, she’s well above average. But no way am I tuning in to ogle her if the show sucks.
I rather enjoyed last night’s episode, but they completely broke character for the redeeming scene. Like everyone else, I found it endearing when he convinced the client to go through with it, but that scene was well and truly the direct opposite of everything they’d established over the previous 2.5 episodes. There is nothing in the Ray Drecker character that makes that seduction even remotely plausible.
Umm, dude? It’s not like Thomas Jane is God’s gift to women. I mean, he’s a little better-than-average looking, but nothing special as far as I’m concerned. Is he supposed to be really attractive? I thought he was just a normal guy. That could be my mistake, though; the type of man that Hollywood casts as “the hot guy” isn’t usually my type.
I have no idea whether Thomas Jane is attractive. I was speaking of the shallow guy audience; shallow women are welcome to complain that the lead isn’t hot enough.
Right, I don’t buy that those kids are Tom Jane and Anne Heche’s kids.
Personally I’d rather her than someone like Megan Fox. Sure Megan Fox is hot, but at a point it just gets boring. Tanya has some sort of like lascivious sex fiend lurking under her sensitive hippiness that I find alluring. The actress really pulls that off. For me attitude goes way farther for prettiness. The best sex I’ve had IRL has been with girls who aren’t the prettiest that I’ve dated.
Heh, he seems to me to be the stereotypical hot guy look to me. I don’t know. I mean he’s definitely not Alexander Skaarsgaard but he’s definitely a good looking dude. But yeah, he’s portrayed as a normal average good looking dude.
Not every show can have the cast of True Blood which is IMO by far the hottest cast on television. Particularly since the hotness of the cast is more quirky good looks than it is model gorgeous.
I agree with everything said above, but HBO has had a coupla great series (like the John Adams one). Of course, that’s not the same sort of series. So never mind. Anyway, I agree with Stink Fish Pot.
