I adopted kittens!

I’m so happy! I adopted a brother and sister from a litter of six. They’re 12-week-old tabbies with white bibs and white anklet socks on front legs, knee-high socks on back legs. The male has a congenital deformity: his tail is short and fat, and you can feel that the bones are curled onto each other. A guy found the entire litter in a gym bag  in his apartment complex. He took them in for a week while he figured out what to do with them. The shelter has had them in a foster home for a week. I don’t think they were ever feral.

I observed the whole litter for awhile before selecting these two. They’re both very chill for kittens and love snuggles.

The shelter people are very conscientious and kind, and sure they were spayed/neutered, had them de-wormed and de-flea’d, gave them first round of shots, and had a vet examine them. They’ll get another exam free with their boosters. And though I’m all set up with cat trees, litter boxes, food, etc., it was nice to get coupons for freebies.

Anyway, yay! Kitties!

Awwwww… so cute. Pics!

About five months ago, one of my mother’s dogs got really sick, and she was too poor to treat him. Said dog was surrendered to the shelter. The shelter does not want you to return to “confuse” the dog. While it was a “no-kill” shelter, it’s really “low-kill” because they put down dogs that are very sick.

Just this morning we got a text message from the new owner. The dog was adopted last month, so he survived his ordeal and found a new family. I’m happy, even if I don’t get to see the dog in anything but electronic format any more.

I’m so sorry your mom had to surrender her dog, but how wonderful he got adopted!

I’ll get kitty pix up when they wake up. They prefer to piled on each other in the back of their crate, which doesn’t make for a good photo.
