I always knew Cheney was quick to temper after that, "Go fuck yourself,"...

And two keys to clear communication ARE subject/verb agreement and proofreading.

I think we can rest easy, folks. Surely Texas law requires that gunshot wounds be reported by medical personnel to law enforcement authorities. Therefore this one will be reported and thoroughly investigated by those authorities. When that is completed there will be full disclosure and we’ll know for sure what happened. Right?

As I pointed out above, the fact that she was in a car and not at the immediate scene, coupled with the fact that she has a vested interest in deflecting the blame (her ranch, her hunt) makes her a poor witness, in my opinion.

Dang. Any stray mods about? Coding cleanup on aisle three.

and aisle four.

jomped into thread, probably not the first to make this admission, butI’m not praying for Whittington’s recovery…

asshole. wishing death on the guy? fucking asshole

I work for DuPont. Being a company that produced a LARGE AMOUNT of black powder for a number of decades, we came up with a little slogan. “All accidents can be prevented”. I don’t care what the circumstances were, if you shot someone by accident, you’re a dumass! You didn’t follow proper procedures and someone got hurt. This could have bin a lot worse. What do you think the reaction would have been if the headlines were “Dick Cheney shot and killed fellow hunter”. Weather driving a car, writing a prescription, shooting a gun, or what ever, if what you are doing carries the possibility of KILLING SOMEONE; you make damn sure you follow the procedures and safety regulations so no one gets hurt. I don’t follow politics much, but if Cheney is a supporter of the NRA, I thing they should consider kicking him out. They don’t need a high profile figure like the VP fucking up and shooting someone. Not really the message there trying to encourage.

I know, I know. And the poor guy never did me no harm.

(I do note that he runs in nasty circles).

I confessed my sin with what I though was appropriate circumspection.

wtf, he’s lived a full life… Wouldn’t it just fry cheney’s grits if dude snuffed?

no excuse.

alright, alright,I’m lighting a fucking candle right now, but if he survives, I’m sending a bill. (to cheney)

Dude. No matter what circles he runs in, you hope he doesn’t recover isn’t acceptable. I have no love for our VP, but Christ on a cracker, why would you wish someone else’s death on his head?

why would you wish someone else’s death on his head?

well, I was seeing whittington as kind of collateral damage in the war on cheney’s war.

That wouldn’t even make sense if I were stoned.

if,as a result of the shitstorm attendant upon the litigation of a wrongful death action, Cheney’s efficacy as an agent of Satan were impaired, that might, in some circles, be considered as enhancing the overall survivabiliy of many innocent people.

That said, (and remembering that I didn’t say I was hoping he died-I merely announced my withholding of positive vibes) one might not be an irretrievable churl to see Whittington as having stood too close t Cheney when God struck at Satan’s servant, and becoming thereby an instrument, so to speak of divine vengeance, if only in a passive sense…

Ok-well, I was only referring to driver’s ed and cars–or did you learn boat safety in your driver’s eds class as well? FWIW, small aircraft are treated as equals to large (not sure if this is still true, but it was about 5 years ago–my husband no longer flies as a hobby).

True enough about the trains–but the analogy doesn’t hold up because trains have lights, crossing bars etc–and rules of the road that cover them. You can’t point a train just anywhere and run someone over etc.

yup. Here is Yahoo news (dunno if this is considered a “good enough” source for y’all) Basic Safety Rule Broken
I think it’s a tempest in teapot, but also that the WH would have been better served if he had not only apologized publicly, but underscored the importance of gun safety. I don’t like the “nothing touches me” attitude from Cheyney. I feel sorry for Mr Whittington–and I bet he wishes he had sent the cook to the hunt! Or even his cat…(lame folk tale joke, move along, please…)

:dubious:

What. In the holy blue fuck. Are you on about? You think…wait. Never mind. Y’know what? Don’t tell me. Do this. Step away from the keyboard. Go to the kitchen. Get some munchies and something to drink, plug something brainless into the dvd player, and chill. At least til you can be semi coherent.

Dammit.

eleanor, that was not directed at you…

I stole this from **Al Franken’s ** posting on the Huffington Post today.

Dick Cheney shot a man this weekend. When asked why, he responded, “Just to watch him die”.

Part of the problem with Cheney is that, at best, he is a bit aloof to the plight of others, more likely, he doesn’t feel a great deal of empathy. If you wish to see an innocent person die so that you can gloat over Cheney’s comeuppance, then you are more like him than unlike him.
