Oh my God! A 78 year old man was shot in the face BY THE VICE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! Oh, the humanity! Oh feckless fate, why did you not stay the hand of this powerful, flawed individual? How, how could such a horrible, horrible thing happen?
Let’s all bow our heads in silent prayer for the quick recovery of this old, foolish lawyer who jumped in front of a loaded gun. Let us pray that he will never be so stupid as to go hunting with the Vice President without wearing his orange vest on his face.
Why God? WHY???
Well done, but you left out “Why couldn’t it have been *me * instead of that poor, sweet, Republican lawyer? Let him recover and take *me * instead, Lord!”
So in other words, 100% Cheney’s fault. Whittington is completely blameless according to the authorities. So why is that dimwit Armstrong still blaming Whittington and now trying to make idiotic excuses, like “as darkness was encroaching and they were preparing to go inside.” Jesus, it sounds like she’s dictating a fucking romance novel. Shut up, bitch!
So Whittington was not in a different hunting group and he did notapproach Cheney from behind as originally [del]spun[/del] reported. It hardly sounds like Whittington quietly snuck up on an unsuspecting Cheney, the way they first tried to play it.
A member of Cheney’s own hunting party goes to retrieve one of their hits and Cheney doesn’t pay the fuck attention to where he went and be aware of his return to the line?! That doesn’t sound like an accident to me – it sounds like utter carelessness and gross incompetence.
I didn’t know cheney had two dope busts back in Wyoming… http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/cheney_doc.html
(btw, no one on acid would even be able to remember what a shotgun was for; it’s too foreign to the context)
Well, let’s be clear about something. When a man is in the hospital over this, especially now that we know it is relatively serious, joking about it certainly isn’t polite.
If it is misplaced for folks here to do it, is is far worse when the White House does it. I would hope a better sense of decorum would prevail there.
I agree with Mr. Moto] here; joking about this and otherwise finding humor in it is in extraordinarily poor taste, whether it comes from the Whitehouse or some other source.
I detest Mr. Cheney, and believe that he via his minions has done some grievous harm to the country, but a hunting accident is no laughing matter.
Where does it rank on the scale of appropriateness relative to shamelessly using the accidental death of a 12 year-old for nothing more than pathetic and crass political argument?
And he was roundly blasted for it and told to STFU. Which I will repeat now, since he didn’t seem to get it last night. Alaricthegoth, STFU. Wishing someone dead is fucked up.
Did you report the post to a mod? Or do you just want something to whine about? Because it really seems like you and Uncle Beer actually want to be offended. Why else would you give any credence to what that particular poster says?
If you look at my post closely, you’ll notice that I wasn’t comparing the incidents so much as a political reaction to them.
Given the content in this thread, and the fact that the nobody ever bothered Adlai Stevenson about the Ruth Merwin accident (indeed, the only bother he got as an adult was from his own conscience), I think it is an interesting observation to make.
