Just to finish sucking the fun out of the joke, a beanie is one of those hats with the little propellers on top that kids wear in the cartoons and such. So if an adult getting laid gets his hat knocked off, a kid getting laid would get his beanie knocked off.

My thoughts exactly. If you didn’t want to get involved, why even mention that particular detail? Still, it’s nothing to kick your own ass over. If you’d done it intentionally I’d think that was out of line but it was an accident and the truth was bound to come out anyway.
Ick. Might I point out that you might be making yourself more a homewrecker by allowing the tramp to get you to help get them back together? I can’t see that relationship going anywhere pleasant, and if they do get back together every time you hear them fighting overhead (and you will), you’ll wonder if it was from you telling him to reconsider.
