I am a Princess.

Regina Coeli [L]: queen of the heavens

My last name means “little fields” in Italian.
So it seems I rule the earth and the sky. Don’t mess with me, okay?

So your name isn’t John Carter, then?

My name means “Dark One”. Especially telling when you look at the meanings of my sib’s names: god’s grace, god is gracious, and judged by god.

Another Andrew checking in but I am not flying a rainbow flag. “Manly Warrior”? All this time I thought it meant “hung stud”… eh same thing.

Well, “Michelle”, in Hebrew, means “close to God” or “who is like the Lord?”

Doggone it, I wanted something exciting!

My middle name “Nadine” means “hope”.

How special.

Make sure not to go to Hollywood at Dopetoberfest

My name means “Victory of the People”.

Those Greeks sure know how to put a bit of pressure on a kid to succeed! How about “Maker of a Great Tuna Melt” or “Ties Her Own Shoes”? Oh, well, I guess I am pretty amazing. Try not to stare directly at me and my enlarged cranium too long.

“Warren” => “Warden” (oh boy).

On the other hand, when I was in fifth grade, somebody with those little spiral-bound Webster’s Dictionaries in their Trapper binder announced that he had looked up my name in the dictionary, and that I was “a breeding ground for rabbits”. And there it was, in black and white for all to see.

Later in life a co-worker conceived of the terrible idea of calling me “Hutch” after hearing this anecdote.

I’m guessing… Nicola?

And MH? I totally didn’t think of that. I’m going to have to carry pointy sticks with me.

My first name is Briana, the feminine of Brian

I have always heard this translated as Strong, just like Silver Fire’s book says. Same root word as brawny. Except in some weird kiosks in the mall selling super-christianized name definitions printed up pretty for framing.

Gareth, from the site ‘strong spear’ it says the name is derived from GERAINT, but most books give it as a varient of the Welsh Gwairth (I bleive I have spelt that wrongly) meaning Gentle.

For alternitive definitions try http://www.babynames.com/

First name means “God will increase”.
Middle name means “Protector of mankind”.
Confirmation name means “Free”
Last name, jesus, I haven’t a clue. I can barely pronounce it.

Interestingly my Second first name (?) James, means Supplanter,
Gentle Supplanter

First and middle names taken together more or less mean “mesenger of God’s judgment.”

Hmmmm…

Best as I can figure, I was given names that translate to “Accidental Birth, Hole in the Rubber…”

Wow, I’m still pretty and gracious. Cool, eh?

“By the cross” is the meaning of this atheist’s name. Perhaps the modern equivalent would take into account crossroads?

Huh, I just looked up Matthew in the babynames.com database and they do say it means “gift of God”, but they don’t say what language it’s from, and I’m pretty sure it’s not Hebrew. The name Nathaniel means “gift of God” in Hebrew.

My name means, excitingly, “lovely” in Gaelic. Woo!

It’s also a derogatory word for Jew in Amharic. I met some Ethiopians in Israel who were horrified when I introduced myself.

Cheri means “dearest little one” (or something similar, reports differ) in French. Of course I am not French, but my Scottish mother had this in mind when she named me. Huh…I should really have been Fiona or Moira or something.

Well, my screen name would translate as “little pearl”

My real name would be “white and smooth”

I see a pattern here. (

Holy cats…I just checked the link that you so thoughtfully provided, Gartog, and I find that not only is my total name identity nationality impaired, but it is triple impaired and my name isn’t really Cheri anyway, but Ahava…Hebrew for Cherished One.

Now, I have no real problem with being a “Cherished One”…on the contrary, the whole concept sounds wonderful. But…when did I become Hebrew, and what am I going to do with my beautifully monogrammed luggage?

Cheri/Ahava [sub]Maybe from now on you should just all call me Scotti, even my loved ones.[/sub]
