I am appalled

Are you kidding? Her public behavior on the board disproves that.

Too late.

In your opinion (and the opinions of several others). It’s a matter of perspective. I don’t see it the way you do.

Just my two cents:

if a poster here has an history of posting with bad manners, his “offences” pile up, and one day he ends up banned (for usually a pretty forgetable one, as has been noted on the recent bannings of some “high profile” posters).

Apparently the philosophy at the SMDB is that the bar should be set lower for Mods than it is for average posters.

I honestly think Twix should be rewarded. No, wait, hear me out on this. Look up at the top left of your screen and what does that yellow-on-red font say? It says FIGHTING IGNORANCE SINCE 1973. And now everyone has a better idea of what the mods think of them, right?

Get with the big picture, folks.

It’s good for traffic too. This thread made it to 10,000 views in just a few days!

Ive been known to use black humour on a bad day at work. This doesnt mean I do it every day, or that it reflects my normal view of clients.

We sometimes talk about ‘shit coloured glasses’ during divorce, where someone could cause world peace and be viewed as pure evil the other person.

That phrase came to mind for me immediately when I read some of the apology interpretations Im reading here. You dont believe she can possibly be sincere, so you’re reading it in that light, and nothing is going to satisfy you.

And yeah boredom.

Otara

Not surprising if it comes from Twickster.

At least three of those babies will grow up to be the next Hitler.

What I find strange is that picunurse, in the OP, complained about what twickster said, but didn’t tell us that twix had said sorry.

I assume Twixter discovered what she did because of the OP’s post and then sent her apology and re-posted it here.

They put a drop of LSD in the bottom before they ship it. Which also explains some of the more… uh, interesting mod decisions. Flashbacks, ya know.

Even if that was so picunurse still didn’t come back with the info.

This is what I find odd, as well.

At the risk of taking internet drama seriously, apologies mean less and less the more of them you have to make. The point isn’t that Twickster apologized or needed to apologize. The point is that she puts her foot in her mouth over and over again, and hasn’t made an effort or commitment to changing that in the future. Speaking analogically, there’re only so many times a battered woman can hear, “Baby, I’m sorry! I didn’t mean it!” without anything changing, before she walks out.

Whether you (general) care about this particular situation at all, you can’t deny it’s part of a pattern. And it’d be nice to hear that it’s not going to happen again, then see some goddamn follow-through.

Quoted for truth.

This is hardly surprising behaviour for Twix, in my opinion, a new twist in a long pattern, to my mind. Her little slip has revealed an ugly underside of the SD. The contemptuous attitude tolerated, it would seem, and only regretted when it comes to light.

You’re right, we’ve all learned something very important. And you cannot unring the bell, as it were.

I can’t wait to hear the response the next time a poster is reminded to be ‘respectful’ of the mods. Yeah, that’s going to go really well.

Did you just pop in here without reading the OP or the thread? How is any of that above comparable to this situation? picunurse was doing something the mods have said they appreciated. And she’s not a pain in the butt poster. twix even acknowledged she got it right.

It does (again, read the thread). There’s a reason she is often called the worst moderator here - her track record.

Just so I’m understanding, it’s OK for you to state your opinions here but not us? Gotcha.

PlainJain, I would have thought that the analogy was pretty clear. It seems to me that twix did something we all do. If the actual parties involved are content that the situation is resolved, then my opinion is that everyone else should just get over themselves.

My analogy above was an attempt to illustrate that one can hold a negative view of a person without letting that view affect the way that they interact, at least in most cases.

Either my analogy wasn’t clear, or you’re an idiot. I’m assuming it’s the former.

Why do you think your low opinion of mankind is generalizable to every single person in the world? o_o

And now I direct your attention here.

mmm

Two points:

1-The “no Pit for mod actions” rule pretty much frees them from real blowback when they act like dicks. This thread being a prime example. If circling the wagons wasn’t enough, now they live in a bubble.

2-I don’t buy the “why would anyone want to be a mod” line for a minute. I started a forum back in '97 which is still going – though I am no longer involved – and clearly, at least for some people, having any kind of power over others, is a sweet incentive. I’ll leave the possible reasons for that conduct up to the sagacious readers.

On a more trivial note, I wonder how many children are starving to death in Sudan as we speak?
