I am finally debt free!

I paid my car off on Monday (16 months early). It wasn’t really anything exciting, given that I knew the date was coming

Yesterday, I received a bonus that I was expecting, but it was considerably more than I anticipated. So, I just used it to pay off my credit card debt.

Now that feels good!

I’ve had varying amounts of credit card debt since 2004, either because of unexpected auto repairs, school tuition or that ill advised vacation in 2005.

Well, I’m finally out of school, my car is running great and I’ve been socking money into savings instead of at my credit card (been paying about 5 times the minimum every month).

So now that damn thing is paid off! This really, really feels good!

Yahoo! Congratulations.

I’ve managed to stay out of debt ever since I paid off my student loans nearly five years ago. I even bought my first car a few weeks ago with a bank draft, though that didn’t leave too much in my back account.

Once again whoo-hoo!

Well done! Now apply the same techniques you used to get there to your savings and you will feel even better.

Wow, congratulations! Going to be quite a while before I am at that place and yeah, it will feel good!

Hell yeah!!! Congrats!!!

Thanks everyone!

Now I’m off to the horse races!

(just kidding)

You should celebrate! Break out the credit cards and go out on the town. Spare no expense. See how easy it was to get out debt? You can do it again!

We hit the same milestone last year, it was thrilling! Sure we have an older car, but it’s paid for and runs just fine.

Nice going!

Right now, I have no credit card debt (well…other than what I’ve put on it since a week ago when I paid it off, as I usually do in full every month) and no car loan. Don’t own a home, so my only debt is student loans.

Oh wait, that’s still over $70,000…:frowning:

Congratulations. That’s huge. And encouraging.

I’ve been pretty open on the boards about my financial missteps. I love threads like this because they make me feel hopeful.

Again I say Congratulations!

Awesome work. I just paid off all my credit cards (and posted about it here) about a month ago, and it DOES feel good. Wish I could say I was COMPLETELY out of debt like you can, because I still have a big car loan and like 40,000+ dollars in student loans still to pay off… sigh

Tripolar’s advice is hillarious. I had the urge to do JUST that when I paid off all my cards.

Congratulations! I paid off my house more than a year ago - but my car broke down last summer, so now I carry a car loan.

Way to go!!! If all goes according to plan (please god, please…) I’ll be right there with you in about four months.

Well done! That totally rocks.

We won’t be debt free for a long time because of our mortgage, but we’re doing our best to pay that down.

Well, that didn’t last very long

I went out and bought a new VW Jetta TDI on Saturday.

Oh well, the credit card is still paid off!
