This might help:

  1. Click log in
  2. Click the With Email button in the Log In screen
  3. Enter your Email Address and click I Forgot my Password (don’t enter your old password, that is dead)
  4. Get the Email and follow the Click the following link to log in:
  5. Click your little avatar or name,
  6. Click your user name at the top of that drop down
  7. click Preferences (takes you to Account)
  8. part way down is the Password reset , follow that.
  9. You will get a [Straight Dope Message Board] Set Password Email and at the bottom is Click the following link to choose a password: , Click it.
  10. Type in a new 8+ character password with at least 1 cap, 1 number & 1 special character.
  11. Type it again and accept.
