Well, as many of us know today is Mother’s Day.
I woke up this morning and looked at my alarm clock and said, “Time to get up, I have housework to do before Mom and MIL arrive.” Hubby tells me to stay in bed because the kids are making me breakfast right now.
Soon enough they arrive with scrambled eggs, yogurt, pound cake and coffee. (Don’t laugh, that’s all we had, so I think they did great). They also bring me the Sunday paper.
I thank them and start eating and reading the paper, when what to my SHOCKED ears do I hear?! The VACCUUM cleaner! My son wanders up a few minutes later and I ask what they’re doing. He said, “Oh, nothing”. Hmmm, I think :dubious: .
Well, I read my paper for about half an hour more and I couldn’t stand it anymore. I had to see what was going on.
I trooped downstairs and was amazed. The table was cleared off, the counters and island were clear, the great room was picked up, other bits of detritus flying about had been picked up. I was amazed. What was even more amazing was that I didn’t have to ask or demand any help; they did it on their own.
Now, is the house Mom and MIL clean? Of course not; but it’s the thought that counts. They have just made my job 50 times easier. I basically just need to vaccuum, dust, clean the powder room, and wash the floors. Two hours work, tops.
Oh, and hubby took off at 9:00 a.m to buy the fixin’s for dinner. He’s making it and I am not to help. (We shall see, but it is a fairly easy recipe).
I am just so happy. It’s amazing the little things that make my day.
Happy Mothers Day to all the Doper Moms!
