It is my impression that there’s almost always at least one mod or admin online at any moment (or very soon there will be). Reporting to mods means any one of them who is online, even if it’s not ‘their forum’ will get the email page and will be able to respond. So, there’s no need to junior mod.
Although, polite direction for newbies is fine if their breach of etiquette is not severe.
And direct (but not mean) criticism of oldies who should know better is also fair game, IMO. Let peer pressure do its thing.
And for anyone who goes way too far, the silent but deadly Report this post to a moderator is called for.
