I am sick of commitments!

Oh sure, it’s a bit of a rant, but I am pretty much synonmous with MPSIMs so I figured this was a dandy place to post.

Home inspector, real estate agents, subdivision superintendent, mortgage people, walk throughs…Enough already! I just want to get moved in, figure out where the La-Z-Boy goes, and then watch a good baseball game all while trying to map out where pictures will be hung, shelves will be put up, how to build a dog run in the backyard, and how long it will take to put handles on the cabinets.

I want to exercise my new homeowner muscles and work with power tools. I want to get my amortization table and start paying off my loan over a 10 year period. I want ownership, I don’t want to have to meet more people so they can get a cut of the cash along my way to home ownership.

Whew. Much better. So, how’s your day going?

Just went through the same thing myself, Mully. I feel your pain.

What’s kicking my butt, though, is moving. I hate moving. I mean, I’m in my new house, I cannot believe the sheer crap I’ve accumulated over the years. And can I bring myself to be ruthless & throw it out? Nooooooo. It’s all got some silly sentimental value.

…I’m so weak…

And how 'bout all those papers you have to sign at closing? I can’t imagine giving away your first-born or one of your kidneys involves that much paperwork …

Hey, there’s nothing wrong with a little Irish soul. I mean, sure they’re white, but I just pop the soundtrack into my tape player and pretend my name is Sally and I’m driving a Mustang. ::reads OP::

Oh. Not * The Commitments *. Nevermind.

We have heard about the papers, but haven’t made it to that stage yet. I figure by the end of that day, my already illegible signature will resemble a slightly wavy line.

I am starting to see the benefits of squatting.

Your new house doesn’t have TOILETS?

Not necessarily.

He probably just enjoys pissing like a girl!

::ducking and running::

No kidding. It has never made sense to me why there is absolutely so much bull in buying a home, and I work in the real estate industry! Go here, there, and over there, leaving $200, $300, $400 each time. Submit this and wait 6 weeks. It absolutely makes no sense to me.

I’ve been told it is due to the amount of money involved. That makes no sense either. You can go down, pay $110,000 for a BMW or whatever, and if you have the cash you can drive off with it that same day.

Even paying cash it takes 2 to 4 months to get a home. No sense whatsoever.

Mully, it looks like you got your new sig right here.

Somehow I misread the Thread title… I could have sworn, you much like I are tired of meing commited.

Osip

You stole my joke!
There are days (Like today) when getting out of bed in the morning to go to work seems like too much of a commitment.

Mully,

It's a pain, but there is no feeling like the one you get when you close the door behind you and you're in YOUR HOUSE.

See you at Home Depot…again, and again, and again…

We made an offer on a newer house, about six weeks ago. The offer was accepted, so we started fixing up our current house, to get it ready to sell.

We even got pre-approved for a loan to cover the difference between what we get for our house and the cost of the new house.

But it’s amazing what paint, new window coverings and general clean-up and toss-out can accomplish. Our current house looks great. Don’t know why we waited so long to do this stuff.

So we don’t care if we sell this one and get the new house or not. It’s nice not to be stressing a move. If it happens, okay; if not, that’s okay too. What a relief.
