I am SO thoroughly impressed with tonight's Simpsons

After a few bum episodes, the Simpsons have totally redeemed themselves in my eyes. Tonight’s episode was absolutely hilarious. Here is the place to share your favorite quotes from tonight’s episode.

"It was finger ling-ling good!"

Policer Chief Wiggam said…

Officer Lew said…

“Whoever goes up in that tree can’t come down for anything. This includes phish concerts and the burning man festival.”

“I’m a level 5 vegan. I don’t eat anything that casts a shadow.”

And Bart the Ninja. It had no relevence whatsoever to the actual plot, but it was funnier than a jar full of red assed monkies.
Yeah, start to finish, this was one great episode. I’ll search IMDB, but I’ve never heard of tonights guest star. Am I that culturally illiterate?

[VCR_PAUSE]

I am currently watching tonight’s episode on tape. I noticed that Bart’s chalkboard during the opening credits said

“I AM NOT THE ACTING PRESIDENT.”

Surely this is not a coincidence. How were they able to change it so quickly? I thought the shows were made weeks/months in advance in Korea. Are the credits done differently? Is changing a relatively small part of a relative few frames easy enough to do on short notice?

Well, back to business!

I missed it! I cannot believe I missed it. :frowning: (Sim, come to chat!!)

It’s a G-G-G-Girl!!!
(thought he was gonna say Ghost!!) FUNNY!!

Great episode! Right down to the “white-people-with-dreadlocks” mocking. (sorry to white Dopers with dreadlocks - I find it to be one of the more amusing aspects of WTO/World Bank Protestors and Eco-Nazis I’ve run into in D.C. over the years).

They’ve always done those few frames close to showtime. Usually not more than two weeks ahead.

Hemp city reduced to stems and seeds

Did they ever stop that log? What’s up with that.
The MATRIX soundtrack!!!
and
don’t touch it, they can clone her from the spit!

Good luck, Milhous!

How were they able to change that so quickly? That’s just a minor change. I don’t mean to get off on a hijack here, but did anyone see South Park tonight? My god that was hilarious. It had to have been written, produced, recorded, and created all in the last two weeks. That’s impressive.

Ender, one of the things about SouthPark is it is now done with computers. The animation was never that sophisticated for the show, so converting it to computer generated (Soft Image is used for most of the work I believe) was fairly easy. So they often do add things like that in at the last minute. It is claimed that they sometimes don’t get the show to the broadcast booth until about two hours before airtime.

raised eyebrow

IMDB? Do tell…

Sorry Silver… :frowning: Maybe someone taped it?

Oh… and for some reason I’m having trouble with getting into chat. For a programmer, it’s amazing how little I understand about IRC.

:gasp: You don’t know who Joshua Jackson is? You know, Dawson’s Creek? Not ringing a bell? Heresy! You obviously don’t have enough contact with the teen/pre-teen girl group.

I especially enjoyed this episode because it reminded me of my crazy German teacher who was convinced that he was destined to marry Julia “Butterfly” Hill, in spite of the fact that they had never met. I can still remember him telling us that she had more courage than any of us would ever have. Thanks for the pep talk, Herr Simpson.

Jessica, who isn’t actually a fan of the Creek. Really.

Chief Wiggum to protesting guy in cow costume:
“Okay COWboy, we’ll see you in MOO-nicipal court.”

Officer Lew: “Heh Heh, good one Chief”

Chief Wiggum: “What I say?”

whammo, IMDB is the internet movie data base. http://www.imdb.com

I would recommend http://www.snpp.com as well.

Serindipity, I boldly state for the record I have never seen a single frame of Dawson’s creek. I don’t own a poster, I don’t listen to the theme song, and I don’t have the Dawson’s Creek trapper keeper.

Yeah Ender, but he was also off Champions and The Mighty Ducks and EVERYONE’S seen them…

I think the best part of tonight’s Simpsons was a very obscure in-joke…

The whole thing with the sliding log was taken from a very old Disney cartoon, one of those Donald Duck vs. Chip 'n Dale cartoons. Donald was a logger trying to chop down the chipmunk’s home, and when the log was going down the log chute, the chipmunks pulled the siding off the chute, and the log begins sliding all over the place (ultimately crashing into Donald’s house with him in it).

As it was, that ending with the log sliding across the country (“This log is our log, this log is your log…”) had me and my brothers in stitches for several minutes.

“And that’s Lisa Simpson, Springfield’s little lez tree-hugger.”

“To clarify, that’s littlest tree-hugger.”
