The Internet is a nasty place. In a way this person did you a favor in bringing it to your attention before worse things happened. Luckily and hopefully, this individual only gets his kicks from this simple online text type abuse. Much more serious things can happen. Stay in private mode in Facebook if you have to be there at all.
You KNOW it can’t be someone who knows you in person, because he got ALL the information wrong. Therefore, he was just randomly sending the same message to random people. Just like cold-dialing a phone. Put it behind you. Start another Facebook account (use a new email address like GMail or YahooMail) with better privacy settings. Don’t let a stupid kid dictate to you how you should feel or what you can do. You just may end up reconnecting with people who truly know you and like you.
I got curious while waiting for a delivery to arrive and googled the first sentence, and there appears to be a lengthy internet fight with hundreds of posts going on between someone using the name Lisa/lisalan (and a host of other usernames according to some claims on that board) and a lot of other people at another forum, with an extended version of what you posted here in response to insults by this other Lisa.
Are you sure it was random? It just seems an incredible coincidence that the participant in that fight would have the same username, photos and comments as a perfect stranger.
It’s amazing how rude people can be on the internet. Even on this board, some people say very rude things they would never say in real life. Or look at the comments on a news story posted on Yahoo sometimes. A lot of people just start acting like animals when they’re anonymous.
It has nothing to do with you. People who want to be internet bullies will just pick on anyone they think they can hurt. I personally wouldn’t delete my facebook over this. I’d just make sure it is private from now on.
Oh, and last I checked, facebook wasn’t a beauty contest anyway. Most of us aren’t on facebook trying to get dates, so who cares about looks on there?

I wouldn’t let this adolescent a-hole get to you because they obviously have no depth or emotional intelligence at all. An important thing i have learned about people and communicating on the net is you meet all kinds - from the most friendly empathic intelligent ppl to the most rude ignorant stupid insensitive idiots,
the net is like a magnifying glass as it allows you to meet more ppl -& the chance of meeting a-holes also increases.
please dont give it anymore worry as this person obviously has got issues and you are a better more intelligent person than they are.
I would say that they are immature and think it’s fun to send messages like that (they may not be entirely bad, more ignorant because they haven’t experienced any real emotional pain so they lack empathy)
I bet that when they grow up a little and face any kind of dissapointment they will think back and regret what they have done.

I’m really sorry. Yes, what other posters have said. There have long been people like this online. I’m guessing that now that they get quickly banned or moderated on most public boards and forums, the only way they can get their sick twisted fun, is to attack people like you.
I’m guessing it’s some pimply-faced 13 year old in his mom’s basement or some roid-raged out “hipper than thou” fratboy who’s all brawn and no brain (or soul). I’m so sorry that happened to you on New Year’s especially, the time we all want to look forward to having a fresh slate.
Think about it this way, you KNOW that what he said isn’t true, so you know you can move on and keep being the great person you are, but he’s going to carry that nasty poison around in him forever.

Lisalan, you have my sympathy. Just yesterday I received a very angry and very obscene message from someone who had obviously hit the “Reply ALL” button by mistake. Even after realizing the message wasn’t intended for me, I still took it personally.
There are plenty of Chinese people with large eyes. :dubious: Nor are all Asian people Chinese.
Wanted to ETA to say, of course there’s no excuse for what that anonymous troll said, but – it’s the Internet, you know? Maybe go read through some Youtube comments next time to psychologically prepare yourself . . .
They did it because they wanted to upset you. There’s not really anything more complicated than that.
That message tells us far more about the person who wrote the message than it tells about you.
