Unless of course you have no lunch, then I will share.
Its payday… that means no money till tomorrow… that means scraping the fridge today. My lunch today is 2 slices of store brand process american cheese on stale white bread.
Beat that.

My lunch today is PEZ. Straight from the wrapper…I don’t even have a dispenser.
Poor, poor, pitiful me…
I’m chewing on a rubber band right now…
Bah. Crybabies. My lunch is whatever pieces of gum I can scrape from under the chairs in the company breakroom.
OK, not really. But I didn’t have a lunch to bring to work today and I only have one lonely dollar left in my wallet so it looks like it will be microwave popcorn from the vending machine again.
A package of ‘Chicken Flavored’ Maruchan Ramen.
Noodles only.
Uncooked.
(No stove or cooking utensils in the building).
You get to EAT lunch? I have to sit and watch mine mold!
I’m having one very ripe bananna and a bag of microwavable chicharrones. Ha! Beat that! And payday isn’t until next Friday so I have to make lunch last.
Lunch? I remember lunch. Mom used to make me a ham sandwich with mayo on white bread, with maybe a couple of cookies or a snack cake. She’d give me a nickel to buy a little carton of milk from the lunch lady. I remember lunch…
<sigh>
I’m eating pumpkin rind soup.
It’s stale.
It’s cold.
It’s made from moldy pumpkins leftover from Halloween.
Halloween 1999.
My lunch was wonderful–homemade lamb curry with tomato chutney and flat bread. Unfortunately I scarfed it down at 9:00 and now all I have in my desk drawer is some instant baby cereal that my son won’t eat anymore.

I chopped up 2 apples-- golden delicious and a granny smith and cooked them till barely tender in a little butter and seasoned with a little lemon juice cinnamon and brown sugar.
Then I put a couple of spoons of that on a flour tortilla and topped with small chunks of monteray jack cheese.
Then I rolled them up and fried till golden brown in butter.
Served with a big glass of milk.
I was out of caramel sauce; I’m roughing it.
Payday’s not till Monday.
Lunch today is a stale marshmallow tree (think seasonal peeps) left over from christmas and a glass of water.
Since I have $.65 to my name at the moment, meals for the remainder of the weekend are likely to come from the lonely box of rice in my pantry.
Your sandwhich sounds pretty good Wammo
I’ll give you half my “peep” tree for half your sandwich.
(actually, there’s not much i wouldn’t do for a soda right now… but we’ll leave that discussion for another thread )

1 (one) sliced fuji apple
1 (one) kind of squishy orange
water
I hate diets.
Luxury!
Why just the other day my lunch consisted of eating my own left pinkie flavored with whiteout and wrapped in newspaper.
One piece of gum… 5 calories… Damn, I’m over my limit…I’ll feast on water after my workout…
Pandora-
I’ll trade you a half a Ramen block (minus a some of the endy-bits that shatter) for part of your “peep tree”.
Or get me a pot and we can make some ‘stone soup’*
I have the noodles.
Shaninhas a banana.
Whammo has bread and cheese
scratch1300 has a rubber band.
Anyone else in for potluck?
I was reading this thread and thinking about my sorry lunch of an orange when my boss (bless her!) brought me pumpkin cookies from the farmer’s market!
She knows they’re my favorite… she knows I’m having a hard day…

At least twice a month I splurge and get food from a downtown food cart run by a local Indian restaurant: for US$4.50 I got a big serving of chicken Makhani over rice, some Lentil daal, a special spiced mango pickle, some yogurty sauce with carrots and cucumber, bread and a bottle of water. This food cart is right outside my building so from impulse to serving five minutes elapses, tops. Poor me.
STONE SOUP! I love stone soup! I haven’t had it in ages though. (Last time I had it was at Guide camp about… oh gotta be 7 or 8 years ago. I really need to find the recipe… and we did cook it with a stone in it… I remember helping to find a clean stone for it.)
Lunch today? Same as always… a sandwich, 3 cookies, and a juicebox. Grandma is pretty consistent but I gotta tell her today not to give me sandwiches… I’m sick of them… 4 months of sandwiches everyday (well every school day) palls on a person. Oh and if I’m really hungry and have money I get fries… which isn’t too often but right now I’m lucky I have money. I really need a job.
