In a thread awhile back is was almost universally voted as the worst pop song ever recorded. Dopers don’t ever agree on much, the only other consensus I can remember is that Bugs Bunny is indeed funnier than Mickey Mouse.

Are you sure you’re not confusing this with “We Built This City” by Starship? That’s the song I always hear gets voted worst pop song ever. The respective Wikipedia articles mention how despised the Starship song is, but doesn’t mention any particular loathing for “Tears”.
