Well, one step closer to getting settled into the area. Bought a brand-new 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 2 car garage in a gated community. If I am lucky I can close by the end of the month, otherwise it will be next month before I get moved in. Soon I get Florida licence plates and drivers licence and I can feel like a real Floridian.
Once I get settled in I will be hosting a dopers’ open house and everyone is invited.
tubagirl, it is in Weston, which is about 10 miles east of Fort Lauderdale. It is a closed gate, planned community and has a community center with large lap pool, and larger pool for general swimming, bike paths, and other nice amenities. The house is brand new, so I will be its first resident.
do you let bikers in? I’ll be by for a doper/warming fest if it doesn’t depreciate the area too badly! I live up in the Melbourne area. Need a good cook for the BBQ? Have grill will travel/work for beer.
later, Tom.
Welcome to the new homeowner’s club. You will automatically be expected to know how to use a drill and an electric screwdriver. An ability to understand wiring diagrams is preferred, but not mandatory. Having the skill to decipher mortgage information is a must, especially if you want to save money on taxes. I am now 2 weeks into the new home and I realize that this is much tougher than it seemed when I was a kid in my parents house. But, it is fun, and kinda cool. Have a blast.
Ft. Lauderdale is quite a drive from where I am, in Polk County. But with enough warning, I might could make the housewarming/dopefest…congratulations!
