Thanks all. Now back to our regularly regularly scheduled MMP I’ll stop baby hijaxlcking the thread
Does that mean it’s gonna rain pointy stick wielding Sri Lankan spiders?[sup]11[/sup]
They named it Boo? ![]()

Doggio - far more likely that it will become a level 5 hurricane and the pointy-stick wielding Sri Lankan spiders will come firing out in all directions at high speed shouting “Boo!”. Didn’t know they could shout, did you? See? That’s what spider training is all about.
Don’t do it. Just spent the last 15 months looking for work as well, and its not worth it. You’re obviously savvy enough to check out what you can online, so pay attention to what you learn. Smoke=fire regarding that kind of thing. Go work min wage at a gas station before giving in to the vultures.
Mornin, all! Went to sleep and woke up with a headache, so id be really grumpy if not for Celestial intervention in the form of baby cuteness, so thanks for that, Apes
glad you get to see your hubby today.
I’m already hating the heat, though its only in the mid-90’s during the day. Also, my room heats up incredibly overnight, guess I’ve gotta start turning my comp off, lol.
Off toncaffeinate, have a great Thursday!
Not sure how to feel about this one…
My long-estranged father is in poor shape. Seems his mind has eroded to the point where his new wife has had to go around the neighborhood to look fir him, and his license has been revoked. Nobody in my family’s history has lasted this long, so we don’t know if there’s a trait towards dementia or not.
Part of me wants to feel bad, but the other part of me says “Who?” I haven’t had any contact at all with him in 25 years, and going back farther than that, he left my mother when I was in the third grade or so.
Happy Thorsday!
It is 63 degrees with a projected high of 76. I hear it’s supposed to rain.
My take on this is if he asks you to come visit, then go if you think it won’t be confrontational. Otherwise, you’ve written each other off long ago, and you don’t owe him anything.
I’d happily swap, especially for Saturday. Today’s supposed to hit 93, tomorrow 103, Saturday 106. Eeeewwww! As of this typing, it’s 54 out there.
Trying to get my brain booted and some food down before trundling off to go do volunteer things today. The last couple of days, DH has had short work days because there just wasn’t that much for people to do, but he thinks that’ll improve because a lot of others are taking vacation/furlough time. Not thrilled about the effect this will have on our checkbook.
Also not thrilled about not knowing how much longer he has the job at all (his last day could be anywhere from the 14th to the 28th).
Sweet baby Cthulu don’t even suggest such a thing!:eek::eek:![]()
The deck is done! At least phase 1 is. Pics up soon - I need some lemonade…
That was quick… four more pics. Next step is to make a step in the middle of the south side of the deck, then build the pergola. With all the rain coming, we’ll do much of the building in the basement, then take it all out to assemble and install.
I can’t wait to start planting around the new deck - a few more weeks, alas, possibly into July. Oh well.
Deck looks nice!
**Gotti **I always think go with the choice that leaves the fewer regrets. You may regret later on that you didn’t go see him, I doubt you will ever regret seeing him. Even if the meeting doesn’t go well at least you can say you tried and walk away with a clear conscience.
Gah.
My last day of the week due to summer hours giving me Fridays off. So a long weekend followed by Monday’s start of summer school for us. It’s only 16 buses, fewer than 100 kids altogether but I will be completely alone here all day.
No dispatcher - she gets Mondays off.
No secretary - she will be in Florida
No mechanics - they all have the day off through some freak of scheduling.
Woohoo - my sister is buying my car! That was way easier than I expected it to be. We just need to work out the details of getting it from us to her. Yay!
**CatDude **- we’re expecting a good story about Monday then!
Good morning and a happy Thursday to all. Congratulations and welcome to the world, baby Celeste!! Wow Apes, she is a cutie.
I had a doctor’s appointment yesterday morning. I’m doing okay but I have sores on the backs of my legs and one is infected. The doc had to give me a tetanus shot and he’s putting me on oral antibiotic (keflex) to clear up the infection. I was supposed to get the shingles shot yesterday afternoon, but after having the tetanus shot, he advised to wait a few days before getting the shingles vaccine.
{{{{{{{{Sticky}}}}}}}}}; keeping you in my thoughts and prayers over the coming weeks. Hugs to anyone else in need as well.
Guess that’s about all for now - hope everyone enjoys their Thursday.
And I have a place to live, take possession next week probably Monday
I can breathe again
Happy Thorsday all
Jim

I don’t even know where he lives, and I doubt he knows how to contact me either, so I doubt there will be any get-togethers.
I believe my oldest brother keeps in contact with him, but he doesn’t have any contact with the rest of us. I think my next-older brother has occasional contact at an exchanging Christmas cards level, and he passed the info along to my next-next older brother who told my mother, who told me. For as many of my forebears who worked for the phone company, it’s fitting that info on my father’s health reaches me through a game of telephone.
Good news, Jim! Except for the part about having to relocate - that sucks under most circumstances.
Yay Jim
