I am referring to Tariq Khan, the Pakistani child who met and talked with with human rights groups to help document the effect CIA drone attacks were having on Pakistani civilians, and then three days later was murdered by a CIA drone while driving.
Yes, Bo. There have only been two war criminals in the entire history of mankind, and both are running in this year’s election. The use of second strikes against first responders and funerals, or supporting torturing prisoners totally doesn’t count.
It’s still a no brainer for me- Obama will be way better for the USA and for the world then the alternative (in my opinion of course), so I am morally required to vote for him. I really have no choice.
So which one of our candidates has been convicted of war crimes? I must have missed that in the news. Hurry with the details; the election is tomorrow and I wouldn’t want to cast my vote for a convicted war criminal.
What? The bottom 99% saw income growth? This is inexcusable. Under Romney, these folks will see NO income growth at all. They should thank their lucky stars that they have some sort of job at all.
Exile US citizens? Not on Romney’s watch. He’ll execute them instead.
This has been stupid hypothetical comparison theatre. Tune in next week, when we’ll talk more about Obama’s evil plans.
More or less I am curious where the poster upthread that claimed to work at a polling station lives and works. Asking people to turn their t-shirts inside out seems pretty high school-ish to me. What else do they do, make you take the pro-Obama or Romney magnet off the back of your minivan when you drive to the polling station to vote? I mean, we wouldn’t want a bumper sticker to unduly influence the undecided stragglers at the polls!
On election day, a person shall not post, display, or distribute in a polling place, in any hallway used by voters to enter or exit a polling place, or within 100 feet of an entrance to a building in which a polling place is located any material that directly or indirectly makes reference to an election, a candidate, or a ballot question. Except as otherwise provided in section 744a, this subsection does not apply to official material that is required by law to be posted, displayed, or distributed in a polling place on election day. 168.744(3).
The Secretary of State has interpreted that to include campaign paraphernalia worn by a voter, and this has been upheld in federal district court. I suspect you’ll see more litigation over this issue, maybe this year.
What a great thread. It started out with a solid OP and just keeps getting better and better. Well done, everyone! Let’s give ourselves a round of applause!
(Seriously, this thread distills everything that sucks about message boards around election season. You should all be deeply ashamed of yourselves.)
Gee, if only there were an alternative message board, with people even hipper and smarter than the SDMB, where shit like that doesn’t happen! Any suggestions?
Do you work to make yourself this stupid, or did your parents just drop you on your head a lot as a child? I wish these were Republican Talking Points, because then you Democrats might actually feel some shame about voting for a fuckstick that gloats about how many whistleblowers he’s persecuted.
I would say that the best thing about messageboards is the scold who comes in just to tell everyone else that they’re not being very good messageboard posters, except obviously the real best thing is the scold who comes in to scold the scold, so wheee.
Lisa: “If you’re the police, then who will police the police?”
Homer: “I don’t know, Coast Guard?”
I think you’re the Coast Guard in this analogy. So that’s something.
Sorry for the scolding, I’m just ready for this election to be over. Listening to each side shout their talking points past the other has lost its novelty for me, doubly so when said conversation gets started by the laziest, most obvious troll in the history of the Internet.
