First of all, the Pink Pistols was founded to help combat gay bashing. It promotes responsible, healthy gun ownership for homosexuals as a way to stop gay bashing.
Furthermore, the one incident that did occur where the man was attacked by a group of lesbians has been argued as self defense by the lesbians and there’s a lot of evidence that suggests it was self-defense. See here and here.
Finally, the videos they show of supposed lesbian gangs fighting were of straight women fighting over men!
I knew they were low but this level of misinformation and hate directed towards Queer people is just insane.
Not that I particularly care what fox does or doesn’t do…but
The claims weren’t made by fox news, and nowhere do they state “this is the truth”, (at least from the linked video you provided), they were made by this detective, (based upon the transcript, he didn’t seem all that educated). There was no indication in the youtube video that the gangs they showed were fighting over men, or what their sexual orientation was.
The pink pistols comment was one of the last comments made by Wheeler, and he didn’t even seem to know the appropriate name for them. So again it’s not as if fox was claiming they were part of this. Also O’Reilly, (can’t stand him), stated that he’d never heard of this, so it’s not as if Fox was giving this the “Carved in Stone” treatment or anything.
Lastly, of the women that attacked Bunkle, 4 went to prison, which also had nothing to do with fox. The last thing O’Reilly ends with is “next the most ridiculous thing of the day”. He didn’t seem to do anything other than ask questions of this Wheeler guy, I saw no “Fox claiming this as the truth” going on at all.
Also one of your links to the self-defense issue is written by “anonymous” and “One people’s voice” (or something like that. The other merely states that the sentences are harsh based upon what happened, it also states that it STARTED as a self defense issue but escalated into stabbing the victim with a kitchen knife.
I just see “news source said/opposing news source said” here. And more or less the same thing that one sees regarding “regular gangs”. Looks like someone just used the “gay” hook for this story.
With a stern intent to resolutely ignore a gold mine of snark potential…
Just not a very good idea. Arming people in self-defense sounds good, but the line between that and vigilantism is narrow. And how is gun ownership going to have any value in preventing gay bashing unless gays start packing heat? Somebody is going to exaggerate the extent of a threat, at some point, and some homophobic asshole is going to get shot. Homophobic assholes are most definitely a drag and a plague, but they are never in season.
And hey! What if it were actually Bill O’Reilly on the scene, and he got shot by a Pink Pistol? That would be…well, that would be really…yes, it would, most definitely.
I forgot to add, personally, (and maybe this is me stereotyping), I just can’t see this as the new great danger to America. I didn’t like the “recruiting” issues, but gay people here and that I know in real life assure me that’s not true.
But anyway, I just cannot imagine huge gangs of lesbians and gays roaming the land looking for violence. From all I know of gay people, they’re more about love than shootin’ 'em up! And that Wheeler guy, he said they actually had pink guns? Is that true? None of the links cleared this up, it was just something the detective said.
I get a silly mental picture of the fab four dressing up the gun and finding cute little gun accessories. And as for lesbians, at least what I’ve learned on the dope, they’re more interested in the whole as someone explained to me here, “U-Haul” thing.
The original copy of the chick fight video. Note at the top where it says “A group of girls get in a fight over a guy at the beach.” You can also make out the reason they were fighting by listening to the video, especially near the end. Fox News had to have known that’s what the video was of when they posted it. This wasn’t a gang thing at all.
I looked up the “expert” check out his website: Rod 007
“He has served several years as a homicide investigator with the Washington D.C. Police Department and as a fraud investigator for the Attorney General of the State of Ohio. Rod also served in corporate security and safety management with Boston Market Restaurants, brand partner of McDonalds Corporation. Rod is frequently called upon by many national and local news programs to analyze and discuss current crime related events in the media and has over 500 appearances as a crime analyst for the Fox News Channel.”
Yes they were. Bill said that it was a lesbian gang who attacked the man when any news source shows that it wasn’t a gang-related thing. He also said that there was a Gays Taking Over and a Dykes Taking Over gang that were involved in illegal activities. The only references I could find to these supposed activities were all linked back to Fox News. That’s just in the first minute. Do I need to give you the claims case by case?
I know this incident isn’t what the OP is about but I don’t think the lesbians hold up as being so innocent.
From the second link:
Granted he may have been rude to them or hitting on them or whatever. I don’t know what the exact circumstances but I think at the very least the woman that actually stabbed him deserves to do some real time.
I find it very hard to credit that you’re advocating a “straight panic defence”. If it had been one gay guy hitting on seven straights and they’d beaten on him as a result, I guess this would be getting spun a little differently.
