I can't believe this wasn't posted yet....... Ms. Bush.

HA! Sorry, I don’t remember your gender, but I’m now in love with you anyway. Enjoy!

Which was the second?

Lurve is a wonderful thing. How else has Laura put up with George for so long.

Oh yeah, the same way as the rest of us.

Complacency and ineffectualness.
Her visit was ill-timed and a really bad idea.

At the risk of being whooshed, I’m going to guess: a professional diplomat?

Oh, and I’m sure Ms. Bush was perfectly safe. After all, the Veil of Attrition carries a +2 save against terror attacks.

I would say that, all things considered, she did little to help or harm the Arab-Israeli conflict, and handled the hecklers very well. Ranked against the other news stories of 2005 so far, though, I think it’s of very little importance overall.

I am amazed that she was allowed to do anything or go anywhere.

I got the distinct impression over 2 election cycles that her job was to keep her mouth shut, look “presentable”(horrible taste in clothes) and smile adoringly at W.

I believe they may have had to remove parts of her brain in order for her to all this.

Oh-she had one other task-that of castigating the press for the contretemps of her daughters…

IMO, she is Nancy Reagan w/o the balls (to be crass)–Nancy had more street smarts and politcial savvy. Laura seems to walk around looking dazed. Quick witted she ain’t. I think her lil visit did nothing to aid literacy for girls or boys. IMO, it was a distraction-from what I don’t know-but doubt it was “neccessary”.
It’s funny-I have alot of respect for librarians–she is an oddity, for sure.

For the record, I believe “Ms.”, the designation you gave to Mrs. Bush, is generally to be used when the marital status of a woman is unknown or irrelevant. For the wife of this or any other President, this is hardly the case.

I have no problem with her trip. George sent his best asset in an effort to help soothe tensions at a time and in the place where they’re frighteningly high. It takes one hell of a lot of effort to read all that you have into his intent.

Don’t mess with her. She killed a guy once and could do it again.

Won’t somebody think of the lesbian strippers?

I will!

I think someone needs a nap…

Well, actually, you could have kept your yap shut about her visit overall. I mean, we all really needed another lameass thread bitching about the Bushes about as much as we need a case of jock itch.

I haven’t stopped thinking about them.

If by deal with them you mean force them to stay a mile away in a free speach zone where they wont ever have to see, then you’re right. I’m not sure that counts though.

Hmm…wasn’t there some silly 80’s movie that use naked women as shock troops to defeat the Soviet Union?

I seem to remember a shot some women in parachutes with big fluffy Costanza-style hats descending on the poor guards in Siberia.

Naturally, of course, they were all immediately subdued by the Bouncing Bunny Brigade…

While it is certainly useful when one doesn’t know a woman’s marital status, many people use it as an all-purpose replacement for “Miss” and “Mrs.” even if they know the woman’s marital status, simply because they feel it is always irrelevant. I do this, but mostly because it’s more than my slow-moving brain can handle to summon up not only a name but someone’s marital status when I’m on the spot.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with using “Ms.” to refer to someone whose marital status is known, though.

For shit’s sake! It’s called a good will visit or some similar term. Wives of politicians have been doing things like this for generations.

Find something significant to bitch about. There are plenty of valid incidents to complain about, so you shouldn’t need this lame-assed drudge.

calm kiwi missed the obvious cynical query of robotic_panda. The first was if6was9, who essentially whoosed himself. Don’t see that too often.

I read the stories yesterday about her PR campaign and I knew someone would pit it, so I didn’t. I didn’t do it because I just knew someone out there would do a better job of putting into words why the First Lady’s visit needed to be pitted.

I can see I was wholly wrong.

I have no problem with the first lady visiting the holy sites of the ME. I can’t even find fault in Mrs. Bush going into a mosque. In fact, I give her kudos for having the guts to do it.

IME, the fault lies within her spinning of every protest into a speech about tensions and emotions running high. Bullshit. They just fucking dislike Americans and dislike the Bushes, and what we’ve done to Iraq and several other conflicts in the ME.

Good job, if6was9!

I would like to know what this “peach puppet” is you speak of; I haven’t heard hide nor hair of it.

to meet you on this level…even that wasn’t deliberate and seems to have happened to her, instead of her taking direct, decisive action.

She is the epitome (to me) of a female putz-ineffectual as a mother (gee, I am so proud of Babs and Whatshername–underage drinking…they so take after their Daddy…<fatous smile>).

the thought that she could broker any deal, deal with diplomatic issues etc blows my mind. Much as a dislike her, Condee has a brain. Laura I am no so sure about.

I always think Stepford Wife when I see her.
I think we should recruit Babs and Whatshername to be part of the Lesbian Strippers–they’re hetero (as far I as know), but it’ll add some “spice”.
