I can't get this dumb monitor adjusted right.

It’s mundane, it’s pointless, and I’ve been messing with it for half an hour now.

The whole screen is tilted a bit to the left and curved in at the sides. I can’t figure out if it’s my eyes or the black border that’s screwy, but I can’t figure out how to fix it.

It doesn’t help that I’ve got this little floating menu with five bizzare options for screwing with the monitor. Every time I touch one I mess up the other four some way and I have to reset the monitor to the original configuration.

Whatever happened to little twisty knobs? I could at least get the screen centered then. . .of course, I couldn’t do s*** if the screen was crooked, but I could center the friggin’ thing!

I dunno what to tell you. My monitor has a little button to adjust the rotation. Pincushioning is what the concave/convex sides is called. You probably have a button for this somewhere too. Might I suggest reading the manual? That’s what I do when everyting else fails.

I know what the options do, it’s just my execution that’s flawed.

Okay, just ignore me then. Of course, I guess you could always put a matchbook under the low side of the monitor. That’ll eliminate one adjustment.

Your best bet is to turn the screen around so it is facing the wall. I’ve found through much research that you will accomplish a lot more this way.

I tried that and got my butt kicked at Quake. No good. . .

It’s weird but they are adjusted at the factory based on the magnetic north & south direction.

Anyway, unplug it from wall for one minute at least. Plug it back in, let it warm up for 30 minutes [that’s how long you must do it before adjusting]. then adjust.

It looks fine now.
