I can't take Dave Foley seriously

I’m watching From the Earth to the Moon right now and I keep cracking up.

The script is so lame that I can’t get past Foley’s delivery! I keep thinking he’s in the middle of some awesome Kids in the Hall sketch and I keep giggling in anticipation as I await the punchline. But it’s not coming! So I just sit here and giggle at his accent and his facial expressions as everyone around him keep acting their little hearts out. Dave knows how lame the script is. Dave knows.

He could be an awesome dramatic actor, but the drama in the script has to be better than the drama in the KitH sketches.

Send in the moon whores! “Buzz, look out! She’s unzipping your suit!”

I still find it hard to take someone dubbed Anal Scurvy seriously!

People like you make it really difficult to spread awareness about such a serious disease. (If I could put a frowny face here, I would)

I don’t know what the problem is. The Apollo 12 episode was the most comic of the whole miniseries. Laugh if you must.

Sure, Foley’s Texas accent is a little shaky. And some of his narration is overly sentimental. But it doesn’t sink the whole show.

No, it keeps the thing afloat. If it wasn’t for me thinking it was an expensive KitH sketch, I’d never have made it through the first few seconds. If only some of the KitH sketches hadn’t been so much better, I might be able to keep a straight face at this drama.

Oh the other hand, I’m watching Blast From The Past and Dave Foley’s pretty friggin’ funny, despite the lameness of his lines. I love the fact he’s so versatile.
