I (continue to) have a job!

This past May, the company I work for sold my division to another company. I’ve been in limbo ever since, wondering if I was going to continue to be employed or not. I just got a permanent job offer from the new company this morning. Woohoo!

I figured I’d give a “woohoo” here since it’s bad form to celebrate in the office when there are others who got the axe. I’ll duck out shortly and go drinking with a few work buddies. We decided last night that we’d go out regardless of the outcome – celebrate, commisserate, or a little of each.

Woohoo! Wishing you luck and joy in your new (old) career.

Congratulations, mrklutz! Best of luck to you.

I had a similar experience. We weren’t bought out, but they were cutting back. I survived about 6 rounds so far. I was told the other day that I’m Paid In Full until October 2007. It’s a good feeling to know you are as safe as is possible in these days. Babies need food, ya know?

Congrats on the new gig. (and get the offer in writing if possible! ;->)

Thanks for the good wishes.

Good point, Boggette, but they were one step ahead of you. My notification came with a written offer letter.

I’m currently going through something similar. My company lost the recompete for the project I’m working on, but we’re good through January for the transition, etc., and the company is working to place me on another project. Sort of a soft layoff, if you will. Sure as heck beats the alternative.

Excellent! Too many people don’t get them and don’t know to ask for them (or are afraid to ask!)

Sure, they get drinks, and all I get is an email. The next round is on you.

Sure thing. Tequila shot?
