Yes, my husband is famous for making big expensive sheets of glass in to useless shards.
Classic example of the artist not making exactly what they wanted, but everyone else appreciating what the artist did make.

I’ve made one piece and the most trouble I had was getting the solder to spread out nice and smooth. I may try it again, which is more than I can say for stonecarving.
Perhaps your iron was too hot or too cold. The heat index is fairly narrow. I have an article that tells everything one needs to know about soldering. I’ll see if I cn find it on line.
I just started a new project. It’s a fairy sitting on a leaf in the sun. As soon as I get somewhere I’ll take some pictures.
