I Dance on the Grave of Cynical Partisan Obstructionism

William F. Buckley would be opposed to UHC. He’d couch his opposition in dozens of fifty cent words that expressed his utter contempt for liberals but in ways many of us would have to trust in Merriam-Webster to understand.

Don’t think smart or intellectual = on your side.

I do agree that he’d quail at the very idea of Sarah Palin, though.

That crowd failed Darwin’s test. They ain’t coming back anymore than the dinosaurs or thylacines. Sure, in a few years one may pop up as the result of archaeo-cloning technology, but it won’t be viable. There’s no way we’ll ever see a self-sustaining population of them again. The environment itself has turned too far against their kind.

A bit like the “bachelor” shows, where clever editing and out-of-context sound bites are employed to fool the audience into believing it’s a neck-and-neck race between the pneumatic blonde fellatio enthusiast and the weak-chinned Seventh-day Adventist who’s obsessed with salamanders.

Yes. A few hours from now Rand Rover, Bricker, Shodan and anyone who’s ever screamed socialism at a teabagging rally will be welcome to kiss my fat ass.

I too would like to start in on the clog dancing, but its too soon. I suspect that it will pass, otherwise Ms Pelosi would have found a plausible reason not to proceed today, or at least not until the last arm is twisted. Yesterdays repulsive display would have offered such an opportunity, if one were needed.

At any rate, the vote will be 217 if it passes. Reason being, so many Dems in tough districts have applied for a pass so that they can vote “no” without bringing the bill down. This is SOP. So, if Ms Pelosi had an absolutely solid 230 votes than she could rely on, she would be in the happy and powerful position of handing out 13 such passes to the needy, and still get where she has to go.

So, if the bill passes, it will be the very slimmest of margins. And, of course, the Pubbies, who know these dynamics as well as anyone, will pretend they don’t and claim that while, technically, the Dems won, no, no, they really didn’t.

Excuse me a moment…dancing shoes? Check. Supply of extra gloaty snark? Check. Emergency supply of blazing outrage, sackcloth, ashes? Check.

OK. Let 'er rip!

I’m going to be hard-pressed this afternoon. The passage of this bill will mark a historic milestone for America, a milestone long overdue. Sadly, the convening of the House occurs at about the same time a NASCAR race begins at my favorite racetrack, and I’m not one for channel-surfing.

Wait . . . come to think of it, I’ve got two televisions!

Note how they are conspicuously absent from this thread (premature as it might be, even if the bill’s signing is inevitable now).

Your words certainly paint quite the picture. Now, I would only ask that you not take up actual painting. Jesus.

Nah, they’re all going to move to Somalia, where they can live the libertarian dream.

-Joe

Well there is the organized effort in DC to drive around the capitol honking your horn to try and disrupt congress, maybe they are attending.

Maybe because the idea behind this thread is stupid (like this thread). The end of cynical partisan obstructionism? Yeah, right…

It’s going to get much worse before it gets better. The Dems will almost certainly lose seats in both houses of Congress in Nov, and it’ll be even harder for them to get anything done.

Well, that’s true, the governing party usually loses seats. Then again, we don’t usually elect black men for President. C’est la vie, say the old folks, it goes to show you never can tell.

Or photography. Let’s nip that in the bud.

You didn’t read the fine print. If this bill passes then they start shooting. Hard to dance with a cap in your ass, no?

Now if you don’t mind, I have a lunch date with Rambo.

Breaking news. Stupak, willing to sign on.

Will this mean that RR will shoot himself? Stay tuned.

Nah. But he’ll awaken tomorrow with a very expensive hangover.

<Reads thread…looks up at masthead that reads “Fighting Ignorance Since 1973 (It’s taking longer than we thought)”…sighs>

Cecil, you’ve lost. Give it up, man. The liberal idiots who think that government healthcare is a good thing should have convinced you a long time ago. If they didn’t then, this thread should now.

Guys, you libs have a history of fucking disasters, one after another. Social Security is a fucking disaster. Medicare is a fucking disaster. All your feel-good welfare programs are fucking disasters. And yet Obamacare is somehow gonna be a good thing?

You all live in a world created by hallucinogens and unicorn farts. Sadly, you let that ooze into the real world and cause grief for the rest of us.

I suspect he’s sufficiently alarmed by the fact that H.R. 4840 - To designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 1979 Cleveland Avenue in Columbus, Ohio, as the `Clarence D. Lumpkin Post Office’ is drawing unanimous support. Personally, I’m alarmed that Jeff Gordon is only in 2nd at Bristol.

I have had no contact whatsoever with unicorn farts! I demand a retraction!

On second thought, this is looking like a pretty good day. Clothy, m’boy, I’m sure The Obama forgives you, as do I. Remember, in the dark days ahead, we’re here if you need us. Peace on you.

Funny, I don’t remember him paling at the very idea of Dan Quayle.
