I Dance on the Grave of Cynical Partisan Obstructionism

Huh? Compared to what?
Excellent OP. I give it a 10, and you can dance to it.

Yeah, but it’d have to be delivered with a brown paper cover!

To the OP:

Bill? Bill Hicks? Is that you? They told me you were dead, man!

(my bolding)
Word has it its big enough that you can kiss it yourself.
Conservatives are all for self-reliant people, you’re just waiting for a handout, you see it hasn’t even passed and you already are demanding stuff from other people.

And, even if it passes, does it mean you stop figthing when things get tough?

If Mr. Buckley was opposed, that would be fine. I only said he was"okay with me" because he used his head, not his dragging-knuckles, as his motive force when it came to policy.

I would never think that just because someone is intellectual they are on my side. But it sure doesn’t hurt. At least they have the capability to change sides if they find good enough reason to do so.

A bit wacky, I will admit. Rather like the thread you linked to, which was, of course, the catalyst for this thread.

I would have made the thread title something like: ** “I Dance on the Grave of Cynical Partisan Obstructionism as it Concerns This Particular Bit of Progress… For Now, Anyway”** but it was too long. But at least we can get a little dancing in… before The Dark One raises the evilness from the dead.

You’re invited to kiss my ass too. So is Clothahump. In fact I’ll have one big ass kissing party. I’ll let you guys know the location as soon as the vote takes place.

I just wanted to be part of what I expect will be a legendary thread.

Oh sorry, one more little post for now.

I should have acknowledged in my OP that it owed a lot to the great Bill Hicks. The “scaly cock” of Satan and maybe a couple other parts were lifted almost verbatim.

It doesn’t do Hicks justice, though. I’m only a very mild stand-in. Can you imagine how he would have reacted to all this bullshit were he alive today?

Social Security and Medicare are keeping some of my beloved relatives alive and healthy. I wouldn’t call that a disaster.

Honestly, I’m not so sure.

Oh, he liked to baffle with bullshit, but I think the late Mr. Buckley was just a higher-rent knuckle-dragger.

To quote him: “A Conservative is a fellow who is standing athwart history yelling “Stop!””

Good luck to them with that.

I dreamed I saw Bill Hicks last night,
alive as you and me.
Says I “But Bill, you’re ten years dead”
“I never died” said he,
“I never died” said he.

People’s key of C

What he said.

Ah yes. I look forward to that. The fast-approaching day when our Socialist leaders arm-twist the Congress into passing a Music Theory Reform bill.

At last! We pry music from the corporate elite and return it to the People!

“The reason most folk songs are so atrocious is that they were written by the people”.

  • Tom Lehrer

If they’re not “pulling their weight” — no matter what their age or level of physical capability — then to Clothahump and co. that is a disaster.

Just getting my own .02 (adjusted for inflation) into the thread.

Right. Social Security and Medicare have not dramatically improved the quality of life of seniors in this country?

I like “Obamacare”, btw, nice focus grouped re-branding. The GOP would be proud.

I seriously hope that these internet discussions will be archived for future generations. Children 50 years from now should look with puzzled amusement at all the arguments from the opposition. It will seem unbelievable that the richest country on earth let its own citizens die if they couldn’t afford health care.

Ardent Teabaggers of today will mostly end up lying to their grandchildren, or avoiding bringing this subject up entirely (just like that surviving pro-segregationists of today are laying low) in order to avoid being ashamed.

They’ve been disasters* for the Republicans*. Humpy is right about that much.

I’m going to post this here because what with all this dancing going on, I feel an urge to do “The Bump”!

Does anyone know approximately when the dancing will start in earnest? IOW, about when will the crucial vote occur?
