In other news, the Dems did almost as well voting to maintain the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, but failed to rein in 3 of their own. Give 'em credit, they’re still just learning how to play as a team.
With luck the Democrat-controlled senate can still shoot it down.
If not, Perhaps the president will remember to use the VETO stamp.
So yeah, nothing really new here, I guess. Republicans demonstrate, once again, teamwork on a scale indicative of mind-control. Democrats fail to do so. And the GOP gets to say they tried, by Gaw they tried! to rid us of this turbulent legislation when the reality is that they never had a chance and the move was purely grandstanding.
Fury = 14 easy bake ovens. Maybe 17 if I can get some coffee.
Mostly I just wanted to start another rape thread.
It’s a publicity stunt. I can’t imagine that there are more than five or six people in the entire country that don’t realize it’s nothing but a publicity stunt. Just like the title of this thread is a publicity stunt.
It seems the subject of rape is coming up more and more often on the board. I think that a lot of 'dopers have, um, some real issues that they seriously need to work out.
How fucking stupid are any of you to think any politician gives a shit about you? They only care about furthering their own interests. Don’t bother voting cause the candidates are all the same sort of scum.
I know you’re mainly rehashing the point about how the Democrats lack party discipline, but that’s the cost of having any Democratic representation in the hur-hur regions of this country.
Restricting Democratic membership to people who 100% espouse what is regarded as the “Democratic” positions on issues like abortion, gun control, SSM, etc. will render these Democrats unelectable in aforementioned hur-hur regions, and will completely neuter the D’s on a national level.
Howzabout you come back when there’s another election on the horizon (instead of back past that last ridge), and favor us with your wisdom so we can use it while it’s still fresh enough for us to remember?
Thanks for the “I’m so much smarter than the rest of you sheep” schtick. I hadn’t had my share of it in…8 hours, since I taught my first freshmen of the semester today.
In all seriousness, while yes, there are corrupt aspects to government and politicians, you’re acting like politicians are a different species than the rest of us. They’ll definitely vote in their interests, but sometimes voting in their interests (getting re-elected) means voting in their constituents’ interests.
Plus, politicians are, you know, human beings, and they therefore might have friends, family members, and loved ones that would be affected by their votes, and they might, actually, you know, consider that.
Rather than acting like the Borg, come to conquer and assimilate.
