Keep dreaming about the return of the failed Republican party to power. The reality: A reinvigorated Democratic base. A populace happier with the American health care system. A Republican party that stood in lockstep in opposition to it all. A vast middle class that recognizes which party supports their interests and which party supports major corporations and the elite.
The war for the Republican party is on in earnest now.

President Obama really deserves credit for not pussing out after that, and, and as much as it surprises me to say this, Speaker Pelosi deserves credit for ramming some coat hangers into some spines and muscling this thing through. She earned her money this time.

You know, I’m glad the bill passed. It’s a step in the right direction, at least. I also understand that there’s cause for celebration. I think, however, we should temper our jubilation a tad. The Republicans aren’t going anywhere, and we should realize that this defeat will only deepen their resolve to obstruct anything and everything the Democrats do from now on. You think there’ve been lies and obfuscation until now? You ain’t seen nothin’ yet.
Anyone who thinks the Republicans are simply going to slink away and lick their wounds in embarrassed quietude is dreaming.
