I didn't get ___________, so I bought it for myself

I initially missed the r in wrench.

Still makes sense, though. :stuck_out_tongue:

I haven’t done it yet, but I still have my eye on some new socks, a tunnel for my cats, and prints of the kids’ Christmas pictures.

I didn’t receive any sweaters, pajama pants, or books this year. I did, however, receive gift cards from my in-laws for Old Navy and my favorite book store so I ordered myself a sweater and some pajama pants yesterday, and will be enjoying a trip to the book store very soon.

Same here. I gave my original away months ago and have been waiting ever since but they couldn’t find it in the stores they looked and they’re still technological neophytes so they aren’t comfortable shopping online. I’m going to order it myself in a few minutes and just have them reimburse me later.

Spice Jars! And I’m making my husband make me the spice rack of my dreams!

I got 17 of them so far (that was all they had). I shall be getting more sheet pans and some cooling racks also. Then my husband can make a freezer rack for me for them.

We have a tiny little kitchen and no cabinet space. I’ve been wanting a nice spice rack for 7 years. I need it to be wall mounted since we have so little counter space. I also want them to all be visible. Spices are pretty damnit!

The only clothes I got was one sweater, so I bought myself a couple of turtlenecks and a t-shirt at Wallyworld yesterday, and a few cute tops at my newest-found consignment shop. I also needed new make-up brushes (someone else got them in the family “Yankee Swap” gift exchange) and all Wallyworld’s “Christmas merchandise” was on sale for 50%, so I got a HUGE set for $5. Yeah, I know, cheap brushes, but I replace them fairly often anyway.

iPod Touch.

Just a few books. I put up a big list, so of course a few of them aren’t bought. I’ll eventually get to them.

That is all I can think of right now.

It occurs to me that I need a wall calendar.

We always get a wall calendar at the Borders after Christmas sale. Very cheap.

A year’s subscription to the SDMB.

The super-duper “lunchbox” Bladerunner DVD set.

Actually, I bought it before Xmas, not expecting anybody to give it to me as a present… and no one did!

I WANT that dear Madam alarm clock.
I put 2/3 of the money I got into savings and now I have about $50 to “play” with.

question is: what to do with it? I don’t want to just blow it–money’s too tight for that, but it’s burning a hole in my pocket…

I got HP5 already. Maybe a book…

You want that Dear Madam alarm clock? I want that Dear Madam alarm clock! I also want: this one

A stereo receiver - though I told people not to get me one. (The one we have has a blown channel.) Got one for $90 at Best Buys - good enough for my use.

And a desk calendar. Will get one cheap.

Well I started a tradition when my son was a year old. I know that someday he will really want to buy me Hard cover, first edition, Canadian authors books. So I started buying them for myself.

This year I got The Gum Thief and Long Nights on Air.

Yay! Douglas Coupland for meeeeeee. Douglas Coupland for meeee. Douglas Coupland, Douglas Coupland. Douglas Coupland for me!

(that was meant to be sung to the tune of Happy Birthday!)

The even more fun part is when I break into song dance when I open the presents. That I bought, and paid for. The thing is, I don’t care if I look like a dork. If I can’t sing and dance my excitement about a present that my “son bought for me” what can I do?

My son got that one for Christmas from my mother. So far, it is a riot.

A video game.

That is fantastic! I think it might be best for a heavy sleeper, but it is very cool.

Excellent. It has been in my shopping folder in my favorites. That folder is more or less an invitation to open it up for gift ideas, or a list of things I will buy when I have extra money.

Oh, dear, I’ve been hijacking this whole time. BTW, I just bought myself a serviceable DVD player last night, since I haven’t had one for over a year. I thought I’d mentioned I wanted one for Christmas, but when I mentioned I was buying one with money my Grandma gave me, my mom seemed suprised.

I also have some clothes I think I’ll buy, including pants and and a jacket. And black peeptoe pumps, and a garter belt (anybody know where to buy one, plus sized?).
