Look folks, I’m only human. While I am trying to raise the level of discussion in IMHO, I will probably miss a thread or two that could conceivably be worse than the ones I actually catch. Again, dropping a note to the mods can alleviate this problem. I don’t want to eliminate all sexually related threads in IMHO, but I will trim them back when, in my personal opinion, they get excessive in volume or content.

Y,know, you might have a point if The Boss had done all of those columns in a short period of time, so that the forum about his columns looked as if he talked about that subject almost to the exclusion of everything else, Binarydrone. Again, I am merely trying to clean up IMHO just a tiny bit, not wipe it clean of all suggestive material. I let them in a few at a time, just like The Boss does.

Are you saying that some people actually use glasses when they drink ouzo, damn next you are gonna tell me they use them for Wild Turkey as well. Oh well I already knew it was a strange world.

Sorry guys, I really didn’t expect a pit thread over this. I titled my original thread the way I did because I was well aware it was near the razor edge of good taste. It was simply a situation I had fermenting in the back of my mind quite for a while and was interested if there was any advice out there . I personally didn’t think it was quite over the line which is why I finally decided to post it, but when Czar closed it I wasn’t offended, as it was pretty overt, and closing was a reasonable perspective.

Yes but this is a community and the community should decide by alerting moderators. However discussion is rarely allowed on topics of what is allowable or questionable. That is of course unless your post count is high and then well ok we’ll listen. Alot of people are going to be sitting back and reading all of this some will speak out some wont, and considering the recent news around here I think many will make their final choice in about 30 days. I know my feelings are that if you want a community then we all take part in discussions such as what is appropriate.
And what are you going to tell the people who pay $15 to be able to come here and ask questions? When it is your decision as to whether or not their question is rediculous or offensive instead of the community’s decision.
I just get the feeling that you want my five buck but not my two cents. So be it.
The people here for the most part are great, the conversation is intelligent(from most members anyway) and thought provoking, however the place itself is starting to smell. I’ve seen alot of posts where people have mentioned the over bearing attitude of Mod and Administrators here.
Ban me if you feel you must I wont be back anyway, I have never had the attitude that I get here from any other forum so maybe it’s time for me to call it quits. Besides it really sucks when you ask a question and people wont answer a serious question, they read the questions and see what they want to see and if you mention someone directly within that question then you are of course slandering that distinguished member, rather than asking a serious question. God screw that.

And, yes, I sometimes use my personal opinion when it comes to deciding whether I am going to move or close a thread, warn a member, etc. I am a moderator, and it is my job. Try to imagine the havok that would ensue if we had to have a community-wide debate on the merits of all questionable posts or threads. Half of the threads would be be about discussing the other half of the threads, and it would take forever to actually get anything done. As far as wanting your five bucks but not your two cents goes-how many times do we have to beg the members to e-mail us if you have questions, comments or problems? A major part of the reason the thread in question was closed was because I recieved more than one e-mail on the subject.
Yes it is and I appologise I’ll admit my post was way over the top and I do owe you an appology. I should not have directed this at you directly, I’m sorry. My growing overall frustraion here is what drove me to post this when a cooler head should have prevailed, once again to you and everyone else I appologise.
So will you reconsider leaving, please?
Starting? It looks like it’s about time for me to go harvest some complaint threads from the old AOL/SDMB and post one here. The complaints never really change; we just get people who see the MB differently as they spend more time on it.
You’ve had a tough weekend, far as I can tell. ~smiles~ For the record, I think you’ve handled most of it pretty fairly, but I would also disagree about wolfman’s thread being closed. It’s not as if he could post it in another thread, as it would be a hijack.
If you ever make it down to TX, I’ll buy you a shot of Ouzo…whatever the heck that is.
