I do find one foot of snow in less than 24 hours a tad excessive.

I don’t believe in god but I’ll pray for you

It’s snowing. I’ll be hiding under my bed.

… WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 3 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 7 PM CDT THURSDAY…

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TWIN CITIES/CHANHASSEN HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW… WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 3 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 7 PM CDT THURSDAY.

  • TIMING: RAIN THIS MORNING WILL TRANSITION OVER TO SNOW BY MID AFTERNOON. SNOW WILL THEN CONTINUE IN PERIODIC BANDS THROUGH TONIGHT AND TAPER OFF DURING THE DAY THURSDAY. SNOW MAY BE HEAVY AT TIMES THIS EVENING THROUGH THE EARLY MORNING HOURS.

  • SNOW ACCUMULATION: 6 TO 9 INCHES.

Don’t forget the rye!

It was in the 70’s here yesterday.

This evening, my lawn should looks like this.

Mother Nature needs to make up her damned mind.

I live in Minnesota. I’m accustomed to inclement weather. However, this is the first time my teeny, tiny arugula plants have been crushed to death by snow on the first of May.

Ayup. I had to trudge through snow to get to my 8am finals in December. I’m super unexcited that I might get to again in May.

May 2nd and a foot—yes, dammit, 12 inches—of snow fell overnight, and it’s still falling. Damages so far include a sizable box elder that shaded our chicken coop, part of the crown of a gorgeous curly willow, and half a generator tank of gas so far.

We might need to move this to the Pit .

Got two feet of snow at my house. Top of Hoosier Pass, central Colorado. It’s mud season, so the snow sits on top of a very muddy road. Plowing it is gonna make a real mess.

It is May 2. I had to shovel my walk and driveway this morning.

This is Not Right. It is Not Supposed to Snow in Months With No R.

Look, I get it. This is Minnesota. But it is also another word starting with M, which is fucking MAY, and it should not be fucking snowing in fucking May even in fucking Minnesota!

:twitch twitch: I need to write a strongly worded letter to someone or other.

What on earth possessed my ancestors to move here, when they could have settled in California or Australia or something? I don’t remember the comedian, but she said something very true yet sad -

Only in Minnesota - a week ago Monday, I shoveled eight inches of snow off the driveway. Last Friday I took the dog for a walk without my shirt, and got sunburned. And now this.

I have officially lost the will to live, and will be hiding under the bed until all the snow melts. Which should be in six weeks. Tops.

I hope.

One time my parents drove to the west coast, and they hit a blizzard going through the mountains in Wyoming. In July.

I think ‘unpredictable’ sums the whole thing up.

Actually, for me what sums the whole thing up is “Stop that fucking snow RIGHT FUCKING NOW!”

YMMV.

We ended up with no power for 12 hours and no phone for 9 hours. Like a true Minnesotan I have to say, “Well, it could have been worse.” The box elder tree fell away from the chicken coop, and I have a bunch of really cool twisted willow to carve. Still, a foot of snow in May…

There are no words sweary enough.

I was thinking I was being whiny and self-indulgent with this thread, but now I realise that I’ve provided an on-line support group:

Me: “Hi, my name is Piper, and I have snow”.

Everyone: “Hi, Piper!”

etc.

We got about eight inches on Tues/Wed, although a lot more than that fell. It was melting into the warm ground as fast as it was accumulating. Today it got into the high 40’s, and my daughter had her regional tennis finals. So out I went, oblivious to the hazard fresh white snow and the spring sun means. But it was May 2nd and it was cold when I left the house! On the other hand, I am a Coloradoan and should know better - I’ve seen plenty of tourists with “raccoon eyes” at the ski resorts suffering. Now I’ve got them. My face is beet red, so much so that I don’t even think I’ll be able to watch her play tomorrow. It is that bad.

ouch that hurts! hope it gets better.

Just wanted to let you all know that spring has finally properly arrived in England. Sunny and mid-60s Fahrenheit for the past two or three days, and maybe up to 70 over the weekend.

I sat outside the office and had lunch in the sunshine yesterday. After the long cold winter, 63F felt positively sweltering with the sun on my face. I’d forgotten what it feels like.

Edit: it’s a different story in northern Scotland though. This was the scene from a webcam in the Hebrides yesterday evening

Shodan wakes up, gets dressed, and lets the dog out into the back yard. He glances casually at his walk.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Shodan

That good, eh?

I think I’ve figured out what happened. We’ve stolen your heat. This is going to be a really bad fire season this year. We’ve had barely any rain that I can remember. March and April were the driest we’ve had in a while, and even when we’ve had rain, it barely lasted beyond a day or two. Today’s its projected to hit 90 in some parts of LA, which is a tad warmer than we’re used to. Luckily, there appears to be rain during the weekend, but I’ve learned this year to reduce my expectations
