The mounds of snow are starting to wear us all down.
PiperCub announced yesterday that he is not going outside again until “the snow is gone and my grass is back.”

My uncle in Saskatchewan said the same thing. I think that made me feel much worse about my city. The bastages.
When I lived in St. Paul, a guy at the end of the block did snow removal with his pickup truck; when he got home at the end of the day (night) after the plows had filled everybody’s driveways, he’d do a quick shove with his truck in everybody’s driveway so we could all get out in the morning. Very cool dude.
It’s supposed to drop another 20cm on Toronto tomorrow. I’m babysitting my friends two kids across town and I was going to drive home at lunch to let the dogs out but I’m afraid they’re in for a long day tomorrow
What the hell am I going to do if the buses are cancelled? I’m a little out of practice at this parenting small kids gig.
They’re going to cancel the buses for 6 inches of snow? Huh?
Well 20 cm is much closer to 8 inches and don’t mock my panic!
These kids are 15-20 yrs younger than mine, I have no idea how I survived these years last time.
Sadly for the kids though not cancelled today and since the snow will fall overnight and they’ll have time to clean it up, it probably won’t be cancelled tomorrow either.
I was good though and didn’t cheer until she got on the bus.
The good news: We only got half as much snow as predicted.
The bad news: The snow we got is twice as heavy as usual because it’s extra soggy. Boo!
Worse news all the buses are cancelled.

ALL.
There, there; I understand. I feel like a big ol’ pansy, living in Calgary where the winters are soooo much easier than in places like Saskatoon, Regina, and Winterpeg.
We have rain here in NJ. And wind. Lots of wind. This was combined with recyling day so that yards all over the block are now strewn with garbage. Recyclable garbage.
well, as long as you’re saving the earth on a regular basis, the occasional setback is understandable.
This year, it sounds like our winter may also be easier than they’re having in southern Ontario too. Of course, one of my buddies in Ontario doesn’t mind at all–he’s a snowplow operator for the local municipality–but he seems to be the only one happy about all the snow.
** sigh **
It’s official — Regina sets new snowfall record
Six and a half feet.
Or, 196.1 cm, for those following along in metric.
The most snow we’ve had since 1955-56.
And, just to make it certain that we crack the old record, there’s likely more snow on the way.
To make it worse, there’s no prediction for a nice slow melt. The article says it’s going to stay cold for a week or two, then temps will shoot up.
And it’s all in my backyard!!
I’m trying to choose between going to bed, or drinking heavily.
I’d love to be snowed in like that. My personal record here in mild southern England is about 10 inches, three years ago. That was fun.
It’s wearing us all down.
One of my co-workers’ 4-year old daughter asked him the other day: “Daddy, will the snow be gone before I die?”
Yeah, I’m sure it gets old pretty quickly, but I’d still like to experience it. Only once, mind!
The winter i lived in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, on an even smaller peninsula sticking out into Lake Superior, we got almost 300 (three hundred) inches of snow. Two hundred inches per winter is average up there. I had to shovel to get out of the house to go to work in the morning, and then shovel to get back in after work. Snowplows did what sounded like machine square dances in the streets all through the night, every night. That child would have been hoping to die.
But I do admit that the cross-country skiing was the best of anyplace else I’d ever lived.
Yay Regina! We did it! Set a new record snowfall for the year, and it’s still March! sobs uncontrollably I had to shovel myself out twice yesterday.
This is my apartment building. Yes, that is a 2nd floor deck.
We’ve had snow on the ground since October 21st, which is no small part of what is making this slow spring more difficult to bear.
Of those two, I’d suggest going back to bed and hibernating for a few months. But perhaps Hawaii could be a third choice?
