I don't care about Yahoo, but what about Flickr?

Yahoo has been nothing but a god damned pain for me over the past few years, and I would love nothing more than to completely cut ties with it completely, if it weren’t for Flickr, which has become the king of social photography sites, for good reason.

I admit, I am getting a bit of amusement out of its tailspin, but I am worried about Flickr. Common sense would say that someone would save it, as it is a great service, and a very well-respected brand among the internet-savvy, but as someone pointed out, Google already owns Picasa, and might not be particularly interested in dumping it. What say the Teeming Millions? Is it time to start backing up my ~300 sets and ~8,000 photos?

Don’t you still have the originals?

If not, I would say yes regardless if Yahoo/Flikr is going down.

I do indeed keep everything, but my local organizational skills are a bit lacking.

Then you have a project.

My org. skills are less than optimal, too.

I’m sorry, what’s happening with Flickr?

Yahoo seems to be starting to circle the drain. I have no problem with this, aside from the fact that they own Flickr, and I hope that Flickr can survive whatever takes its parent down.
