I was posting photos on Multiply.com until the bastards up and shut down. Now I need a new place. Recommendations? Thanks in advance.
Flickr is my favorite.
I just looked that up, and it seems they want me to have a Yahoo ID. I’m not sure I want to join Yahoo, as I recall hearing some problems with them but nothing specific that I can remember.
Still using photobucket. No problems so far.
For that one, the site won’t come up when I click on the link. Maybe I’m not meant to post photos.
I just clicked on the “sign up” link on the Flickr home page. The window that pops up says “don’t have a Yahoo! ID? Create New Account [button] or sign in with: Facebook [button] [/] Google [button]”
So you don’t need a Yahoo account.
Hmmm. I’m not on Facebook either. I’ll see if the Google-button option works.
I think the problem you’re thinking of with Yahoo accounts was a breach of part of their password file in the summer of 2012. New Yahoo accounts would not be affected. None the less, pick a strong password - stronger than Yahoo’s minimum requirements. Me for suggestions.
I use and like SmugMug. It’s not a free service, but that means it answers to its users rather than to a bunch of advertisers and venture capitalists, and it is very customizable.
Do you have a budget, number/size of photos to share, photo organisation system and sharing restrictions in mind?
Thanks, all. I have managed to sign up on Flickr, and I’ll try that for now. But SmugMug looks interesting, and I’ll keep that in mind. I may use them.
No photo numbers or organization in mind right now. My wife will probably use it more than I do.
