Thats right… so I am going to be alone. I don’t care. I’m fixing a Thanksgiving dinner.
Today I went out to the store and got everything I will need. I am going to have… (forgive the cheesy/sparse menu but since its only for me, I’m not going to fix anything I wont eat! )
HAM… a spiral cut ham. In the morning I am going to bake it in my (own recipe)sweet and sour cranberry glaze with pineapple. I will also have Stuffing (stovetop… again… just me) and mixed vegatables. Hawaiian sweet rolls are on the menu as well as Twice Baked mashed potatoes I made tonight and will bake again tomorrow. I cooked the potatoes al’dente and then ran them through a ricer, then I beat in REAL butter, cream cheese, velvetta(dont kill me)and REAL heavy cream. I then layered potatoes with cheese and will bake it tomorrow, Mmmmm that is soooo good… worth everything if you ask me. I also made a pumpkin pie from a can (like I’m gonna carve up a pumpkin just for ME!) in a premade crust cause I didn’t feel like making a good crust.
Nothing Fancy. …but just for ME it is. …but what the hell… why should I eat a frozen pizza on thanksgiving!
I said it in another thread but I spent Thanksgiving (I think it was 1994) by my lonesome.
I got a cornish game hen, stuffing, made mashed potatoes and even stuffed the bird.
Kicked back while the bird was cooking, wrapped presents jamming to Vivaldi and talked to family. Had my beer and enjoyed the day. Later I watched a movie.
It wasn’t so bad, I made it fun. It’s all in your head!
Yeah I can’t see not celebrating because one is alone. I’ll be alone today. My husband was here yesterday. I cooked all day, we ate turkey, he fell asleep on the couch for three hours. ::shrug::
Yeah, I’m alone (and in a foreign country to boot) this TG too. Unfortunately I had no turkey or chicken on hand, so I had TG dinner with all the fixings – except for the bird. Just a big plate of TG veggies and stuffing. Well, it’s something…

Your dinner sounds great, esp. the potatoes. And the glaze for the ham.
Isn’t it nice, to be able to fix a meal and not worry too much about timing? Or entertaining while you’re cooking?
