I don't drink. What can I do at a rural college on the weekends?

Hmmm… I was going to mention cow-tipping and snipe hunts,
until you said weather was a factor. Besides, I’m an animal lover. Let’s leave those poor cows and snipes alone!
Seriously, I think Sue hit the nail on the head when she said you can hang out with people that do drink. Parties are still fun, even if you’re sober. More fun, sometimes!
Not that I would have known this on college, of course, but now that I’m past the partying stage its been a welcome surprise. I also like the gaming, pranksters, and bartender
ideas. Also, make sure you check with your Student Union
about college-sponsored events, which occur every weekend at most colleges, and dont involve alcohol. Good luck!

No, no… he’s in Wisconsin, not Wyoming.

Good idea on the gaming, though. There’s also online gaming.

…and online gambling.

Whoopsie…lost the tuition, mom.

Thanks. That’s an incredibly wide brush you got there. Or should I not be talking to you, since I’m supposed to be snobbish?

I drink a little, but consider myself a non drinker because the occassions when I drink are few. I have drinking rules I have made for my own safety and they are rarely met on a college campus. I also honestly don’t like beer. To the point that the guys who have been making me try it have announced that I will probably never like beer. Where in “I don’t think chugging horse piss until I puke is fun” is snobbery? If you think its fun, go for it. I do what I think is fun. I only drink at small gatherings of friends I trust. Mainly because I’m a paranoid drunk and none of my friends need a drunken Child in panic attacks out in public. (I get very uncomforatble with a loss of my precious ability to think. If I don’t feel perfectly safe it can get bad. Curled up in corners trembling and crying bad. None of my friends need me to do that at a big party.)

On Friday nights I game. I was a white wolf Junkie before I got to college and I found a crew by searching online. My now beloved storyteller picks me up and hauls me out to the Gaming Pit for many hours of raucus laughter and good dorky fun. I’ve even imbibed around these people.

For beginners who are looking for laughs I’d suggest the new game “Adventure”. Snag some ten sided dice and make up your own pulp fiction crazyness. (We ran into Venom last night, I kid you not.) Its light, fun, and simple. One book. Some dice. Some pencils. Make stuff up. Playing pretend for big people.

Daowajan, I just remembered last night that one of my sister’s best friends is a freshman at Beloit this year. I don’t know if she’s seeing anyone romantically or not, but even if she is maybe you could be friends. She’s a nice girl, very bright, and I’m pretty sure she doesn’t drink. If you like I could try to pass your e-mail address on to her through my sister.
