L’chiam, y’all!
Oscar Wilde…gotta love a man who’s last words were:
“Either this wallpaper goes, or I do.”
Buliwyf
I think it means that her thinks she was ugly to begin with and now she is worse looking…thus making some old pictures seem to be getting prettier. Not sure if you were looking for a serious answer or not, but you got one.
Damn your eyes Buliwyf, I’ve been looking for an excuse to throw that quote into a conversation for months. As I read down the posts, I was thinking, “yes, here’s my big chance!” until you came along and blew me out of the water.
I’ll content myself with adding one of my other favourite Wilde quotes: “Some cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go.” With that, I’ll leave.
Since this is about a TV show and a famous writer, I’ll move this thread to Cafe Society.
But not before repeating my favorite Wilde quotation: “Work is the curse of the drinking classes.”
Please note the somment you’re responding to was made by yojimbo, not me, yojimbiguy.
Whoopsie, sorry about that. Once again, two posters that I’ve perceived as a singular entity resolve into discrete beings. The shame of it all!
Ah yes. Jim Varney was a genius in that one.
“The only way, Vern, to behave to a woman is to make love to her, if she is pretty, and to some one else, if she is plain. Whooooeeee! Yessir! Whoops!” crash
I rarely laugh out loud while reading the boards, but I busted a gut at that line.
I’m just about done with Dorian Gray right now, actually. Fabulous story. Once I’m done with that I’ll catch up on my Dorothy Parker, and then I’ll be all set to become the English Language’s next great wit.
Or maybe not.
Undoubtedly the coolest grave I ever visited was O.W.'s. There are hundreds of lipstick marks all over it (it’s rather large). The funny thing is you know at least half those tributes were made by men.
Criterion has a gorgeous DVD of The Importance of Being Earnest that’s worth checking out.
Is there anyway to see this “unaired” episode? What’s it called?
Squid–I’d wager the Picture of Dorian Gray solution is almost certainly the right one in this case.
I think the Pere Lachaise police have gotten rid of those, as they did the overwhelming amount of candles, letters, graffiti on Jim Morrison’s simple headstone.
the way i was able to find it was by downloading kazaa and finding it on there. the episode is called “When you wish upon a weinstein” or some variation thereof.
