I Don't Have A Topic, But Here's The MMP

Swampy, is you Maxwell Smart?

Wouldn’t that be banned by the Geneva Convention?

emily, we’re not asking for your recipe, we’re asking for samples.

doggio, you’ve obviously never camped with my posse. It tends to be long on eating and drinking.

Juliet, don’t worry, we tend to fling cravings on each other on a regular basis. It’s part of Mumper initiation.

I got jacked around by the @$$hole who has been jacking me around at irk for the last week and a half. She used to work in our department and is covering for one of the leads in a department whose inventory I reconcile. She knows that a whole mess of counts need to be closed by EoM and she’s wanting to have them voided. Fortunately, my boss has my back. She sent her an email giving her until noon tomorrow to get her poop in a group or everything will be adjusted as is and let the chips fall where they may. Should that happen and inventory is adjusted out that she needs for a transfer or shipment, she will have to [del]beg for mercy[/del] submit a request for adjustment that could take 48 hours.

Damn, I’m in an evil mood today. :stuck_out_tongue:

Worked. My help for next week isn’t coming. On the bright side, the new TV that required a new TV stand needed a soundbar, coutesy of Da Jungle. Hockey season is gonna really suck for the neighbors this year.

Well, if I win the lottery, we can do a Mumper cruise. Flytrap can demonstrate the “Man Overboard!” drill.

red, well my one friend hosts “Bullstock” at his place every October. There’s bands a pig, beer ,and everybody [del]camps out[/del]passes out in their chairs at 0300. I don’t remember if I had fun or not the last 5 years.

In Orygun, we have yet more evidence that the world is broken. It was 100 degrees here. C’mon now - that’s not supposed to happen in July. On the plus side, the late winter means that most things are still green, but it won’t last long at this rate.

I’m still in favor of a Mumper cruise. The rates are surprisingly good, considering the length of the cruise, but it is for 2019. If I keep [del]nagging[/del] reminding everyone, maybe someone will join me. :stuck_out_tongue: I can promise no MiL or 'Beamer.

No, but we did have airplanes landing on the roof!

Unfortunately my sleeping compartment was directly underneath the #3 wire.

A mumper cruise does sound like fun though.

Yeah, I slept 4 decks underneath the #3 wire from September, 1972, through all of 1973. It wasn’t that big a deal, though, because I was also POIC of the ship’s movie booth, so had to be up almost all night anyway.

(Movie booth: A place where we had actual printed 16mm films, and serviced actual projectors, and provided service to the ship’s company, CPO berthing, wardrooms–officer, Captain, and Admiral, and managed underway replenishment from and to other ships.)

Now, that final overhaul at Portsmouth, in drydock a few hundred meters from destroyers and such running 72-hour burn-in tests of their active sonars, that could and did interfere with sleep. Just imagine your bunk is between two 20-meter diameter gongs and there are lots of large, mean, and angry guys hammering on the noise makers all night for three nights in a row.

Go Navy.

Up and breakfasted here at this ridiculous hour. Outside is 18 degC (~64 degF) and 99% humidity, with 0% probability of water falling out of the sky, or so they say for now. Right at dew point now, so the grass is going to be wettish.

Full moon in a day and a half. Maybe the haze will clear enough to enjoy it this month.

Have a good Thor’s Day.

Good morning!

It’s another day, here at the hovel. I have been having issues that I thought were related to my kidney stone. Now, with some odd developments, I think I may have some sort of bowel obstruction. At least, for now, the pain is gone.

I got a bit of a surprise, too. A friend of mine, without my knowledge, went to one of the local county fairs in the area, and put a jar of my dill pickles, a jar of my pickled pepper rings, and a jar of antipasto, up for judging. I was surprised that I won 1st place for the pickles, and two 2nd place ribbons for the pickled pepper rings, and the antipasto. So, that made me feel good, and it truly brightened my day. I’ve felt so miserable, lately, with the kidney stone issue.

Yesterday morning, we had to make an ER run to the vet. Our Siamese, Luca, who prefers to live in my daughter’s bedroom, was discovered to have pissed bloody urine all over the place. So, he got an injection of something to help dissolve crystals, and an antibiotic. He was doing better, as of last night. Poor, little guy! He was miserable!

Today’s agenda will include getting some groceries, laundry, and general cleaning of the hovel. IF I feel up to it, anyway. We’ll see.

**George **- what was your rate? I enlisted in Aug of '73 and became an AT, till I went over to the dark side in '79. Do you remember the NESEP program? I was one of them.

**Nona **- congrats on the ribbons! That is a lovely surprise! Much nicer than bloody cat pee…

Theoretically, we’ve got a few rain-free days on the agenda. Maybe I can mow this weekend. Not my idea of fun, but it’s gotta be done.

**FCD **is finally figuring out that he can’t work all day every day. I’m hoping he’ll make a work schedule and stick to it. But I’ll believe it when I see it.

Happy Thursday, anyway!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled Off to work.

Morning, mumpers! I am up, sheveled, irking and 'ot. It’s been way up in the high 20s/low 30s for days and we’re just not used to it. The cats have turned into melted puddles of fur, and the humans are just melted puddles. I’ve been having all my meetings outside on the scorched earth because it’s better than being inside all day.

The weather lady said we will have thunderboomers tomorrow though, I can’t remember ever being quite so excited about the prospect of rain.

nona - congrats on the awards for pickleage, that must have cheered you up a bit. Sorry to hear about the poorly mog though, one of mine is prone to cystitis and has had a few trips to the vet for antibiotics, anti-inflammatories and painkillers. He’s now on a daily capsule to help keep his innards healthy, and a diet of renal food which seems to be keeping his symptoms at bay.

We’re having a mumper cruise? Great idea!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 74 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 90 and mostly N.O.S. for the day with a chance of rain/tstorms/apocalypse late this afternoon. We shall see. No big plans for the day which is fine by me. Quality cee-mint pond time may be on the agenda. Grilled salmon, peas 'n carrots, rice pilaf, and rolls shall constitute tonight’s suppage. Easy to make and tasty.

Ace yay on the picklin’ prizes! Reminds me of one of my favorite Andy Griffith Show episodes, Aunt Bea’s Pickles. Poor Kitty! Hope she’s feelin’ better.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day!

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Happy Thorsday!

Looks to be a hot and N.O.S. day today.

I have a huge blurf as I woke at 2:30 (damn bladder) and couldn’t fall back asleep.

Yeah… It’s a bit cooler down my way, but I’m done with this dry and hot stuff. We don’t have rain forecast tomorrow, but they’re saying heavy rain most of the day on Sunday and that’s the local carnival day, so it may actually happen!

Just got back from checking the bees- it’s even causing them issues. When it’s dry like this, the nectar flow can dry right up (there may still be flowers around, but they can stop producing any nectar). Going to have to feed them sugar syrup, or they’ll eat all their winter stores before winter even starts. Not gonna get a honey crop this year, that’s almost certain.

I mentioned ages back that the neighbours of the guy who hosts my bees (who I occasionally buy eggs off) are really really friendly, to the point of it being a little disconcerting for someone used to city life. Today they flagged me down, asked if I knew if the bee guy was away or something because they hadn’t seen him in a few days, then proceeded to invite me to their barbecue tonight, in his absence. I’m… not sure. It’s a bit of a drive and I won’t know anyone, not even the hosts.

Nut, like you I’m a private sort of person, so I completely understand your reluctance to go somewhere you know nobody; but sometimes it works out. Do whatever you feel comfortable in doing.

Boo fae, I worked 1999-2003 in Abu Dhabi, where we called the 20’s/30’s C winter; Right now high’s there are between 40-50C.

nona, congrats on the ribbons and hope your plumbing gets to feeling better…same for your feline

72F here, but going to 90 later. Watered the front yard last night, so the grass should be good for a week, and maybe mother nature will drop in and provide some rain next week.

Need to register for soccer volunteering for this year today and take the concussion training (see if they’ve changed the class any). Can do this on-line so no problems. But first need to forage and eat.

Back at irk today. I’m working out on the shop floor this morning; fortunately, it’s only supposed to reach a high of 73F today, so the shop won’t be sweltering. Then I have one of those 2 hour meetings in the afternoon where I’m needed for about 10 minutes of it. Ugh. Irk indeed.

Didn’t one of his report taunting someone trying the IRS scam?
You may have spoken to this guy.

Do you know who the judge was?
I’m just wondering if it was Peter Piper who picked your pickled peppers?

I clicked on the link & saw something I’ve never seen before; seriously. They want you to answer a survey before they show you the content. (There is an option at the bottom to skip it, which then shows you the article.)

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette are money grubbing nasty folks who limit your views and want you to pay money after a certain number. My apologies.

Well, dang, I had to go about the public this mornin’. I was here in da cave mindin’ my own bidness when my brain cells decided to fire up to remind me that my car tag tax stuff is due, like now, bein’ as it must be done before my birthday which is Sunday. So, I had to purtify, put on goin’ about the public attire and head up to da 'Burg and do so. Twuck is now all legal for another year.
