I Don't Have A Topic, But Here's The MMP

You certainly had a colorful stint! I was one of the first group of women going thru AV A school in Millington, TN, and after a C school that I never used, I was assigned to VS-41 in North Island just as the Navy was transitioning from S-2 to the S-3 Viking. We were the rag, so we were training everyone else in the fleet, and a lot of women were sent there, only to be subjected to bitching about us taking their shore billets - like it was our fault we couldn’t go to sea in '74.

That’s where I got picked up for NESEP, and went to Purdue to study aeronautical engineering. I also had a pilot’s license, so naturally, with all my aviation background, I was sent to the Pentagon to be a communications officer - the 3rd ensign on a 2-ensign watch. It sucked so bad, I was ready to resign my commission and go back to being a tweet. But my boss made a few phone calls and I was reassigned to an aviation-related billet. After that, I went to VP-45 in NAS Jax, and that’s were I discovered how awful I was at playing the khaki game.

I don’t regret my decisions - I had some great experiences and to this day, I’m still sorta associated with the Navy - the company I work for builds trainers for aircraft and helicopters, and they also do R&D and prototyping in another department. Plus I live close to NAS Pax River - the Navy has pretty much been my life since I was 19.

We just got back from a very humid walk around the block - about 1.25 miles - it’s a big block! Once I cool down, it’ll be time for red velvet cake. Yum!

Ace, congrats on the ribbons. I hope you and Luna are feeling better soonest.

Rebo! :tacklehug:

{{{emily}}} I’m so sorry for your loss. Vent, cry, lean all you want. We’re here for you.

Tomorrow is a bizzy, bizzy day at irk. Once I get home, I need to shower and dress to go to the visitation of a friend/ former cow-orker’s mother. The next day, I’ll be up in Clarksville at the visitation for my manager’s 18 year old sister who was killed in an auto accident this week.

My God, it’s depressing how many people are dying lately. I don’t mean that to be rude or inappropriate or anything, just…

I feel kind of weird.

{{{red}}} Sorry for your losses, and thanks to everyone for the kind words.

I’ve mentioned in the past that before the freeway, driving with Mother to my grandmother’s house in Tennessee on state highways through Millington, I wondered why the hell there was a naval presence so far inland.

Emily, I’m sorry about your mom. Feel free to talk or not. We Mumpers have broad shoulders for you to lean on.

Ursala Kitteh just laid a major stink bomb in her box. I can smell it downstairs and her box is upstairs.

Worked, went to BottleMixx. It was the one guys last week. The conversation tured to dogs and baby bunnies:
A: My dog killed a baby bunny.
B. My dog brought a live baby bunny into the house.
Me: Gordie pees on baby bunnies.:dubious:

REBO!!! : tacklehug :

{{{{Midget}}}} I’m sorry:(

wow that sucks red …. almost 25 years ago I got a call at 4:30 am sunday from the head cardiologist of ucla……… he was supposed to call my uncle first but had the wrong number

all my mom was getting a artificial heart valve replaced cause the first one cracked

the last conversation was an sort of argument because I was trying to do housework because she was supposed to be coming home that Tuesday and she was bugging me ………

I was numb for weeks………

A very odd thing happened today, something that strangely enough, in all the places I’ve lived, I haven’t seen happen before.

I opened my refrigerator door and thought maybe it was without power, because there was no light. But no, it was just a burnt out bulb.

It’s an item I don’t even think about, it’s just…there. I’m sixty-three and I don’t ever remember replacing a bulb in the fridge. Wierd, huh? So I bought a new bulb and put it in, butnow I think I’ll mark how it lasts.

{{{Midget}}}

There isn’t really a ‘proper’ or ‘the way things work’ for situations like that, you do what you need to do, whatever you’re comfortable with. It’s the way you feel that’s important, not how other people think you should feel. Just remember to look after yourself.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work. Back to back to back doubles this weekend.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 75 Amurrkin out and cloudy (well, dark), with a predicted high of 91 and a forty percent chance of rain/tstorms/apocalypse this afternoon. We shall see. Got some errands to take care of this mornin’ so that is the big item on today’s agenda. Among other things I need to get some cream cheese as I have requested a cheese cake for my birthday cake. OYKW gets to make a cheese cake tonight. I’m sure I’ve mentioned that he makes an excellent Noo Yawk style cheese cake. YUM! I’m told I shall be feted tomorrow out at the cee-mint pond. Fine by me. I shall allow my fan base to bask in my presence.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, alas, I must purtify and don goin’ about the public clothin’. Why must life be so hard!

Happy Firday Y’all!

{{{Midget}}} - I’m so sorry you’re dealing with all this. We’re all here for you, however you need us!

TGIF! **FCD **is actually taking the weekend off, including today, so I want to find something for us to do. First, tho, I need to get thru today. And I need a haircut - maybe I’ll stop on my way home.

Happy Firday!

Happy Firday!

It’s a cool 68 outside now but supposed to be hot and rainy later today.

Nothing special to do today.

71F here this morning, but heading to 90F in the afternoon.

Did get out last night and walked a little bit, then went to Borders and bought a book (Grantville Gazeete VIII, part of the Ring of Fire alternative history SF series) so I can say I did something. Need to put on some clothes and retrieve the newspaper (I guess I could get it without dressing, but the neighbors would talk…).

Thank you, all.

Ooooo, you like the Ring of Fire series? We need to talk about it! I’ve loved it ever since the beginning, and have all the books in the series, in hardback! In high school I knew a guy who’s done some writing for them, a couple of tech articles about radio(He was into ham radio then) and the Gribbleflotz book. I actually felt kind of bad when Urban VIII was assassinated, that Cardinal Borja needs…replacing.

{{{{{midget}}}}}, I’m sorry for your loss, and the fact that it’s put you in such a strange position. I don’t think there’s a right or wrong way to deal with anything like that, you do what feels best for you.

96 minutes until I am out of here for the weekend! Off to the lovely city of York this afternoon for a weekend with friends.

I just bought tickets to a semi-pro dinner theater production of A Chorus Line - being done in Fredericksburg. We’re going to the Sunday matinee. Here’s hoping it doesn’t suck!

Meanwhile, the server isn’t serving. I should have taken the day off…

I find that semi-pro performances (as opposed to more amateur performances) tend to be pretty good. Though maybe I’m biased because I’m in a semi-pro orchestra.

{{Midget}} and {{Red}} So sorry for your losses

So tomorrow’s the big camping trip. I’ll report back on Monday with how it goes, camping with the young’uns. My daughter is pretty excited; my son has no idea what the word “camping” means. But on our way to the campground, we’re going to stop at a farm that allows kids to bottle feed baby goats and hand feed the pigs and cows and stuff. My daughter just LOVES pigs, so she’s excited about going to feed the pigs. Basically, she’s bouncing off the walls about going camping tomorrow. I’m so glad I’m not the nanny today.

Also, today’s the last day Romeo’s brother and sister-in-law are in town. I survived the two weeks. No one was bludgeoned about their water intolerance or fiber intolerance or oxygen intolerance or whatever.
