I don't like coffee or beer

Hate beer.

Hate coffee.

(love the smell of coffee)

Hate coffee, love beer (too much.)

mmm…beer

Coffee on the other hand, I can live without. The smell is nice though. I find tobacco smells pleasent as well, but the smoke stinks.

I do also.
However, I love the smell of coffee. Even in the can.

Okay, i meant, in the canister, not the bathroom, for those of you wont to be funny.
Nothing like taking the lid off and having a good whiff.
But it tastes rank.

Oh, dear Freyr, your comment that you “can’t stand beer” was about to diminish the high regard in which I hold you. Thankfully you redeemed yourself with “I have some friends who brew their own and their stuff tastes pretty good.” Yes Homebrew is good.

But the coffee thing still disturbs me.

I cannot imagine life with out beer and coffee.

Interesting with so many people not liking coffee and beer, but as most if not all of you are Americans I am not altogether surprised, having had both coffee and beer in the US.
[/joking]

Me too. Beer is disgusting. Even the fancy schmancy microbrew stuff that people keep telling me, “You’ll like this one, really.” Coffee is not quite as bad. I have learned to tolerate the smell. In high school I wouldn’t even go in to a coffee shop because I thought they smelled so bad. I like coffee flavor if it’s very well sweetened like ice cream or something.

Don’t like coffee because I’ve never tried it. Hot drinks make me gag. I’ve mastered drinking tea, and that’s as far as I’m willing to go.

I like beer all right… even crap like Lone Star which is what my friends drink. But I rarely buy it for myself, and when I do, it sits in my fridge for months. I like Perrier or lemonade.

Who said I was lacking in alcohol and caffeine? I love Coca-Cola, and readily drink various kinds of wine and booze.

Mmmm, booze . . .

I think I like coffee when you add cream and sugar - or lots of milk with sugar. It’s got this aromatic flavour that wakes you right up in the morning whilst you’re in your underwear. But I don’t drink it - I figure caffeine loads are bad for a guy as “energetic” as I am.

Beer, I totally agree - most flavours are jus’ plain nasty. I remember trying out my first Carlsberg - I swear you could dry up some ink in a glass and serve it in a can of that putrid crap and no-one would be the wiser.

On the other hand, if you’re going for sweetness, the best (lager) you can get is Fosters. It’s Australian. Yeah I know. But you could try it and check it out.

The biggest let down of my beverage consuming passions was cappucino. I was sooooooooooooooo expecting that to be a hit. I telz ya as soon as the brownish goo hit my lips I knew. You could burn rubber with that taste. I threw most of it in a nearby plant pot, disguising it with a newspaper. I didn’t notice this waiter standing behind me. I was “expelled” shall we say from that dining house, never to be allowed in again. As you can see, it has been cappucino’s fault for most of the failures in my life.

I like coffee a lot, although I don’t drink that much of it. Beer however is evil and vile.

Don’t like beer. Can tolerate those malt beverages.

Coffee I live on. But just standard coffee, with lots of cream and sugar. Has to be almost to dessert level of richness and sweetness.

And I can’t stand Starbucks coffee.

I hate coffee and beer. I get my caffeine and alcohol the way the gods intended–caffeine from colas, Barq’s root beer and chocolate and alcohol from rum.

<laughs and points>

Americans actually like Fosters!

snicker

Beer. Ick. The only times I use beer is for cooking: beer boiled shrimp, anyone?

Coffee on the other hand, I generally like. Some varieties I like plain, some I can only stand if they’re in a mocha or the like. But I’m not going to go out of my way for a cupp’a joe. I can take it or leave it, and I don’t go into coffee shops much. Why pay through the nose for something I can make at home, exactly the way I want it? (Almond Roca mocha, made with half-n-half. Yummm.)

You’re going to have to drink a whole lot of Barq’s to get any kind of caffeine kick:

Give me a strong cup of java, upwards of 150 mg/5 oz. cup.

I like good coffee and I like good beer.

I had to cultivate a taste for both, though. Until my mid-twenties, I thought beer was vile. I also put tons of cream and sugar in my coffee. Now I like a good beer and only put cream in my coffee. If the coffee’s really good and there’s no cream around, I can even drink it black.

That being said, I think coffee and beer are like red wine. Not many people like merlots or cabs the first time they taste them. They’re acquired tastes.
