I really can’t stand the pit. People arguing and yelling at each other. Why? To vent I suppose. People who really don’t give a shit one way or the other will argue and cuss each other out for the hell of it. Man… I have enough unhappiness in my life, why would I want to start something with you people… where I go to escape and release from reality. I have had a couple of threads get moved to the pit and I usually stop responding to them at that point.
Why do you people want to escape the hardships of life to come here and argue with people you only know virtually?
There is nothing wrong with being a pussy though I prefer the term kitty cat. But seriously, I think that’s a good way to keep a good mind set, it keeps up your overall state of mind. I’m proud of you.

I am coming to the conclusion that many of the members here feel that the Pit and those who make it a habit to post there lack character or intelligence. Although not often stated openly there seems to be an underlying sentiment and perhaps even some discrimination against the aforementioned persons.
I have found that some of the most passionate and imaginative posts can be found in the basement of the SDMB and on many occasions the denizens of the Pit have defeated the scourge called ignorance.
With little exception we are just like you, if you met us on the street you wouldn’t be able to tell us apart from those who post in Great Debates or MPSIMS except for one small and almost negligible way.

If, however, you meet up with a group of self inducing spazzers who like to pretend to be idiots, do not, I repeat, do not, go back to your house and drool over yourself while eating cake (this of course being done in the presence of all your family who have assumed you were killed in some self inflicted fit of madness some 10 days past)… nothing good can come from it.

I don’t visit the pit for it does nothing for me. And I hate the your/you’re thing too… but don’t take it too hard whammo - my poor typing is something else I hate.

I’ve lurked in the hallway but I never went through the door (or would that be floor) to the pit mostly because I’m just not that fluent in potty mouth. IRL when I try my hubbie just laughs at me when I say…“Now when you say that I feel so angry, I mean I’m extremely irate at such an insensitive remark. I mean, oh heck, gosh darn it, SHOOT.

You know the pit is too small and inactive to be the only place people post. The people who post there are also posting elsewhere on hte SDMB.
What is tiring about the pit is that some of the tirades are poorly written and extremely trivial. I don’t mind trivial if it’s well done–The Mezzanine by Nicholson Baker comes to mind…
There also seems to be an unwritten and highly inconsistent “code” that seems to exist only so it can be vaguely alluded to whenever someone wants to bitch about how people who post in the pit are failing to comply with it.
That gets damned tiresome. But to me, it’s just another forum. There if you need it, and hopefully you won’t. Damned unforgiving too much of the time.
