I don't understand the intensity of the hatred for Trump

Oh there’s a way alright: it’s called propaganda.

I know people who honestly believe that the Jan 6th insurrection was just a “peaceful protest” that just so happened to turn into a riot. They’re either completely unaware of many of the things that have been mentioned in this thread or have only heard sugarcoated versions of them, all thanks to Faux News/OAN/Newsmax/etc.

I hold there to be two categories of Drumpf supporters: those who are malicious and narcisisstic like him and support the evil shit he’s done/is doing because he “owns da libs”, and those who are gullible and stupid because they believe the bullshit right-wing media spews and are unable to get out of that bubble. Okay, three: people who are a mix of both.

I was a Republican. Hated Hillary Clinton (so fake!). Never voted for Obama (but admired him and liked him as President).

And then Trump comes along. At first a joke, and then the nominee. I voted for Clinton because she represented more of the values I admire than Trump. I found him despicable.

Mostly though, the world is crooked in the dark. It’s how you act when the light is on you and you’re caught that matters. Trump never apologizes, doesn’t put America first only himself, and is just an embarrassment.

He provided tax cuts and fundamentalist judges.
Forget the impact on the world outside the US, a mere peccadillo … all politics is local.
He wasn’t a warmonger. He was and remains a carpetbagger of the old school.
He really liked, indeed vigorously sought out, the emolument opportunities available through the functions of his election and office.

There was his disregard for electoral processes and conventions. And inciting a failed mutiny.

Oh, and there were the deaths of about a million Americans from COVID-19 which could have been avoided if they had just ignored Fauci, followed the POTUS 45 advice and injected bleach.

Sure, they would have died of acute kidney failure in a couple of hours but that’s a small price to pay to MAGA.

GWB was rightly roasted over his tin ear response (Brownie, you’re doing a heck of a job) to Hurricane Katrina. In comparison to POTUS 45, the man was a saint.

Don’t forget that his commentary on COVID is what drove the neo-anti-vax movement. Yet, he, of course, availed himself of getting the jab, the socialized jab, mind you.

And, yes, he’s Hitler in an American costume. Did he murder millions of people of one religion? Not yet, but he did want them banned from the country. Did he murder or sterilize millions of people considered by him to be subhuman? Not yet, but he certainly mocked them and did nothing to ensure health services and other governmental departments acted on what should be their mandate to help such people. Did he call for the overthrow of our government? Yes. Did he call for the constitution–the very document that created the job he wants to hold in perpetuity–to be discarded so he can be dictator? Yes.

Where is this not Hitler on the rise?

Look, it’s complete and utter nonsense that he was shocked he won the first time. He was shocked to find out that he’s not as loved bys the voting public as much as he loves himself. And he could not accept the second slap of reality when he lost his second attempt at ruling, not running, the country.

He constantly contradicts himself and his supporters are either unaware of that or simply do not care. All they care is that he is the bigot they want to be.

I grew up on the east coast in the 1960s and 1970s. Even as a teenager, I knew, just like everyone else, what scum the individual 1 is.

Just remembered something, and don’t know where in this post to put it, so I’ll put it at the end here. One thing that really sticks out about his mishandling of COVID is that he knew that people on cruise ships were infected with a disease he knew people were dying from, yet he was publicly denying even the existence of the disease or, at best, blaming his political opponents and, better yet, the non-existent Deep State for creating and spreading the disease to embarrass him. He knew this and yet he wanted to stop the cruise ships from returning Americans, AMERICANS!, to America because it would make his numbers look bad.

Calling that piece of shit Hitler in the making is really not hyperbole.

Exactly what you are saying @Qadgop_the_Mercotan , plus the misogyny. From the first I saw of him, he reeked of bullshit, but I don’t understand the women who fell under his sway. Eeewww! I wonder who trampled on their sixth sense that they couldn’t tell he was not a man to get close to.

The first time I ever saw Trump I thought that he was a con man with a face that needed punching. That was when I saw the cover of “The Art of the Deal” in a Waldenbooks.

And in the mid-1980s he crashed and burned the original USFL.

It’s against forum rules to accuse anyone of trolling, but the nature of the OP, and the fact he hasn’t come back, suggest to me someone that wanted to throw a lit match into a fireworks factory.
Not necessarily to provoke an angry response, but certainly a massive response.

I was thinking the very same. Is there any expectation that an OP revisit their thread?

With an OP like this one, generally I think yes.

But @Mijin’s point is a good one and maybe the OP is standing from afar and watching the flames.

Yeah, but most of the responses impress me as pretty responsive to the OP. Believe me, I could’ve been far more ranty.

Modhat on: enogh talking about the poster who started the thread. Address the subject of the thread.

Late to the thread, but in response to the OP, have you ever had a conspiracy-theorist family member, acquaintance, coworker, pastor, or neighbor?

And no matter how many times you debunk their myths, they come right back spouting more?

At a certain point, your patience, if you had any to begin with, totally hits the wall. And when you blow up at them, guess what, they come back spouting out even more.

That’s what it’s like with Trump.

To break it down to its simplest terms- I hate him because he spreads hatred.

Hatred of blacks- he’s the guy who had staff hustle black employees off his casino floor whenever he came down. He’s the guy who spread lies about Obama’s citizenship, who demanded that the innocent Central Park Five be executed, who continues to disparage judges who happen to be black.

Hatred of Hispanics- all the crap about the border and Mexicans sending their rapists, murderers, and drug dealers. Deriding judges who happen to have Hispanic heritage. Separating immigrant children from their parents just to be mean.

Hatred of Women- attacks on Hillary, the grab them by the pussy line, buying Miss Teen USA pageant just to get an excuse to walk in the dressing room of underage girls, the callous lines about Mika Brzenski, I could go on and on.

Hatred of Disabled- mocking the reporter with palsy.

Basically if you’re not a white Christian heterosexual non-disabled male Republican, he hates you. Back to him, what’s not to hate?

Yeah, agreed, pretty well behaved given the title and subject. And, mostly non-partisan reasons to hate the man.

There are a ton more of little reasons to despise him (all the lies, the Trump U scam, etc.), but I think the major ones are all mentioned and certainly seem sufficient reason. If he stayed a reality show guy, I wouldn’t hate him – I would barely notice him. It’s that he decided he’s good enough to be president of this great nation and then just got worse and worse in the job that really makes me despise him.

Anyway, doesn’t it feel like the thread has run its course?

Leave aside all the political issues. He’s a gigantic spoiled baby who can influence the way your children behave, because he was the president, so that must be the correct way to succeed. Do you want your kids to throw a massive tantrum, call you names, and incite a riot when you tell them “no”?

You know, when you think about it, trump is the ultimate troll. Just like a troll, they don’t necessarily believe the things they claim, they throw out incendiary ideas just for the sake of causing conflict and controversy, and firing up their base of fellow trolls.

Let’s take the border issue, just for one example. trump doesn’t actually give one shit about any influx of undocumented people coming into our country. In fact, he’s made use of undocumented workers on several occasions. A year into his presidency it was revealed that one of his properties employed many undocumented workers. And I’ve heard that he used undocumented laborers to build his properties at times. They work cheap, and if you refuse to pay them at all, what are they going to do?

And, just like a troll, trump will often just sit back and watch the fireworks after lighting the fire. He’s lazy that way. Also like a troll, he often evades responsibility for his actions. he’s a draft dodger and so far he’s dodged all responsibility for everything he’s caused up to now. he’s great at starting heated debates, but not participating in them.

off-topic

Speaking of trolls, I thought we had a “Don’t feed the Trolls” policy here? Do you really expect Dodgy_Dude (really???) to come back to this thread, LOL.

Modnote: And this is P&E. Do not call other posters Trolls here. Take it to the pit or refrain please.

I hid your off-topic post. Hopefully no one replies to it.
