I Fall To Pieces: An Autumn MMP

Whew! Three meatloaves and five freezer bags of chili are assuming solid form. The chicken salad is in the fridge where its flavors are melding perfectly - no, really, they are! The kitchen is tidy - dishes are washed or rinsed and in the dishwasher. And all the laundry is done and put away, except for FCD’s - he can do that himself. :stuck_out_tongue:

Supper tonight will be grab whatever. But except for that, I’m done for today. We’re hoping to make a drive down to Glouster, VA, to look at a boat tomorrow, but the broker hasn’t called back. No huge rush - just something to do. So we shall see.

For now, tho - chillage shall ensue.

shoe Enjoy your night with the friend and cats (it was unclear if you’re seeing the cats or just the friend). You deserve a nice evening after this week.

Now I should do something for dinner, and dinner for Cinnamon. He’s gotten to the old man picky stage of life where he won’t eat unless I mix some nummies into his kibble. I’m thinking alfredo, just cuz it’s kinda chilly and that sounds good.

yeah I know what you mean here anything under 50 is cold and under 40 is freeze to death … here we only get true winter temperatures from around Christmas to the 2nd week of January when it gets into the teens and 20s and that’s seldom …

Tomorrow is the first of two leaf pick-up days. Yes, Portland comes and gets your leaves so they don’t end up in the storm drains. We have a huge urban canopy here. So we went out today and swept everything into piles in the street for them. Bring out your dead!

wordy, have you considered teaching your kids to cook and assigning them each an evening a week to make supper?

Yay Pixel!

sari, my mom used to run a standard pencil up and down a new zipper to lubricate it (sort of like applying graphite oil but less messy).

VanGo, it sounds like some Icy Hot and a heat pad may be part of your evening. I hope that you’re less sore tomorrow.

Got the laundry and chores done, got a stoner supper and they offered Nelson some peanut butter (kept there for milkshakes) as a pup cup. I was expecting ~ 1 tablespoon of it in a condiment cup, but they handed me a slaw cup with ~ 1/4 cup of the stuff. :open_mouth: He was hilarious on the way home, taking a couple of licks, then working his tongue to get it off the roof of his mouth. There’s enough there for tomorrow’s field trip to make Marketplace buys. I’m also guessing that there will be a fartfest on his part tonight (legumes do the same things to dogs as humans).

I don’t remember when I made spaghetti, or whatever it was I made sauce for. Thought it was about time to use the leftovers. There wasn’t a lot, and I over-cooked it so it dried out. I added a can of tomato paste and a can of water, some garlic powder, some salt, and some Italian seasoning. And I used up the rest of the spaghetti that was in the box. It was good.

Mrs. L.A. mad drinks: 2 measures bourbon, 1 measure absinthe, three dashes Angostura bitters, and a little sugar mixed up with ice in a shaker.

Just the friend. We met at a local watering hole she likes.
It was fun, people-watching, shooting the shit … and after a couple of drinks, we started trading dating war stories, and shit got raunchy fast - as it does when women get together without the menfolk around.

But mostly, it was amazing to laugh, and one-up each other’s jokes (I’ll admit to hitting the joke thread here while she was in the bathroom, for fresh ammo) and commiserate about shared problems and life stuff.

We swore ferrealz that we’ll do this more often.

flyboy I’m sure that’s a typo, but I think you just named Mrs L.A."s drink as “mad drink”. We can hope it means mad fun, not mad grrr. Does sound tasty, either way.

shoe Glad you had a good time.

HOLY SHIZZNIT is there a holiday I forgot about? Thought it was gunshots at first, but no, definitely fireworks.

Like, lots & lots of fireworks. Why?

Well I wish it was because they somehow were pre-celebrating Nebraska beating the football pants off of Ohio State tomorrow but I doubt it. Things are real somber here.

Howdy Y’all! This mornin’ I did the things early and spent the rest of the day inside, dry, and warm. Been rainy and chilly all day. Nappage got achieved and we worked on our sloth skills. Majik intartoobz pizza and sallit were good.

shoe glad you had a good time with your friend. As to the fireworks, well, it is, Guy Fawkes Day. Maybe you have a lot of English neighbors.

Evening all. Soccer has been refereed, both games came off without a hitch and no threats of bodily harm, so will shortly be heading off to bed since tomorrow’s schedule is: 9:45am-Coach, 12:30pm-Ref, 2:45pm-Coach, 5:15pm-Coach, 7:30pm-Ref… That should keep me busy. And just to make it perfect, my lower back has decided to act up; hopefully a good night’s sleep will settle it down. It was in the 50’s and not too bad, even took off my brand new gloves as I didn’t really need them. Will see what tomorrow brings.

Have read all but processed little, so everybody gets hugs tonight; take care all.

‘Made drinks’.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. Already got 7 hours OT for the week.

Guy Fawkes Day?
Remember, remember!
The fifth of November,
The Gunpowder treason and plot;
I know of no reason
Why the Gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot!

Sounds like a riff on a Sazarac, I’ll have to try it.

I only hear it on British tv shows.

My insides have been weird this, so this is actually a good idea for me. Just went and opened a bottle, plus I bought some red sauerkraut, which should also do something.

My two years at middle high coincided with the closing of one of the other middle school, so the teachers were confused as well. It had been that 9 elementary schools fed into 3 middle schools and 3 high schools, but they closed the middle school when I entered, and then closed one of the high schools at the end of my sophomore year.

So we made school friends in 7th grade, kept them for 8th grade, and then didn’t see them in school for 2 years, and then saw them again in 11th grade. We were all rather confused.

Keep track of them! I already mislaid a pair and it’s only November. :frowning:

Anybody celebrating Diwali near you?

Managed to get 50% off for 1.2 kg of ground beef which will be turned into meatloaf with bacon. Supposed to be sunny and cold today. Not as much blue sky as advertised.

Have to go collect some leaves before it rains again. Otherwise they will just make a mess, especially in the rock garden on the north side.

Going to make poppy seed banana cake sometime this weekend and buy tickets for going to the U.S. for Christmas First time in the U.S. since 2019 and it’s probably been more than 10 years since we were in the states for Christmas itself. I find buying airline tickets stressful, so I’ll be glad when that’s done.

We have a dryer on loan, since ours died. It seems to have a different idea of dry than I do, so I’m even less likely to do laundry.

I guess the leaves won’t rake themselves.

Happy Saturday!

We’re heading into Va to look at a trawler this morning. It’s almost under contract but we’ll look anyway. It’s a 2+ hour drive one way and I doubt we’ll be there even an hour. But we’re retired… What else do we have to do?

Daughter is having us over for supper as a late b-day party for her Dad. That will be our day. Happy Saturday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 45 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 61 and cloudy for the day. Another dreary day. I do not foresee leavin’ da cave at all. No reason to and don’t want to leave. Any need to feed today will be via forage as we have all kinds of sammich makin’s, chips and so forth. A day to hone our sloth skills. After all one should not slack up on one’s slothin’.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah,

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

@BippityBoppityBoo

Probably isn’t going to happen. Frostie has really disappointed the fans. He was the Golden Boy, the Home Town Hero here to lift the program out of the doldrums. AS it turned out, he has the worst win/loss record since 1959. The fans are barely tolerating it now, but they will turn on him soon.

shoe, there were a lot of fireworks and a few gunshots last night here too. I doubt that it’s celebrating diwali or Guy Fawkes’ day, given the demographics of the neighborhood.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and will do some surfing for a bit before sheveling and going to make a couple of Marketplace buys.

It was 32F when I took Nelson out this morning, so we were both in coats. Brrrrrrrr!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Good morning one and all.

It’s about 43 degrees with promises for a very stormy, wet, and gusty day. So far, all seems calm.

Took the Jeep in yesterday and it started out as a fiasco. Apparently, they changed locations for my type of service, but there was nothing in the appointment confirmation that told me this had occurred. Fortunately, it was only half a block down the road. Secondly, when I mentioned the tires, I was told, “Oh, we have to order them from the warehouse and it’ll take a few days, and then you’ll need to come back”. I said, “So you mean, the appointment I made TWO WEEKS ago, that specifically mentioned needing tires, was not enough notice for you to order tires?!”. She said that someone should have told me to call in and confirm the tires were there at which point I told her, I made the appointment online, and it was on them to make sure they had the stuff. I was polite, but there was definite steel under the velvet. Being polite paid off, after much looking at tires to be ordered, and settling on a pair, I settled in for my service. I was there an hour when the gal came back and told me she had found tires in their warehouse, the same type I had on the Jeep, and they could install them while I was there, AND, that the cost of the oil change and inspection was on them, since they goofed up. So, it all worked out. I had to wait longer, and I had to use the restroom in the worst way, but I made it. They had shut down their restrooms, which was kind of annoying, but I get it.

I am supposed to go to an HOA meeting today, I think, but I really don’t want to go. It was supposed to be last weekend, but they pushed it to today. They’re looking for new officers and I have no desire to be one. Frankly, they should just disband the HOA. It’s a pain the butt, especially since none of the HOA rules are really enforced. It’s only there to pay the damn street light, retention pond fees, and pay for eventual road repairs since our street is considered private.

Welp, that’s all the news that is fit to print. Enjoy your drive to look at the trawler, FCM.
