I finally did it......they know...

Thanks guys for all the well wishes and stuff! Anyway, i guess in an instance like this boring IS good. The worst thing about it all was when i finally decided to say something, i went into the kitchen. Thoughts about what may or may not happen were running through my head. But i told myself that i would have to tell some time, and that that time might as well be now. Also, that i dont know what would happen until i say something.

Finally, i went out there, and then stood in the livingroom watching the end credits of “Jesus Christ Superstar” while both of my parents were out there. My heart started to pound so hard i could hear the blood rushing through my veins. Then, i finally said it. I said it all very quickly, no preparation for them, just got it out (i did that with my friends). Suddenly, the stress was gone. It really is like a weight’s been taken off of your shoulders. No more burden about having to skirt the questions or not say what i want to.

I am quite fortunate to have the parents I do. Things like this dont always go quite so well, i know.

There’s a Doob twin running around? Eh ghad! I can’t even handle one!

Doob’s gay

::shakes his head no::

::grins and nods yes::

::chuckles a bit and shakes his head no::

::looks back at the audience and nods yes::

::does the “I don’t know gesture” and shakes his head no::

::looks away and nods yes::

And that’s the ONLY Eddie Izzard reference you’re gonna get out of me.

/me happy-dances around the room

Go doob! Go doob! Go doob!

Seriously. It’s always cool to hear of a successful coming out! I’m like all bouncy now. :smiley: :smiley: Go doob! Go doob!

:mad::cool::):p:eek::confused:

Well, such an uneventful coming out is hardly the way to launch yourself into the world of drama queendom :wink:

Before you tell your twin, you might like to research the sexuality studies which have been conducted on twins - they make interesting reading and you can always taunt your bro with them if he reacts unfavourably.

Seriously though, I’m glad it went well for you, and hope it continues to do so. Your parents rock.

BTW - does this mean you’ll stop jizzing in chat now?

Sparky - Thats so rad, congratulations. You’ve got a lot of balls, I respect that.

[hijack]p.s. and speaking of jizzing in chat, where the hell is everybody? I’m in the room, but there’s absolutly nothing there. No topic, not bots, no people.[/hijack]

Yes, but can I still be your bitch?

Oh, sweetie. I’m so proud of you. :smiley:

Thanks reprise. Actually, i just may, in order to scare him hee hee :).
Anyway, it’s not me who jizzes in chat. It’s Monster104 and MrCynical who do. I swear, the floors would be so unsticky if they’d just stop!

Doob, you’re the man (and not in that “ladies’ man” way that seems to be rumored around)!

Don’t worry, having friends whose parents actually joined their local “fix-your-fag” group, I’d say that little drama is a good thing.

Love ya, buddy!

Good for you, Doob!

Great to hear your parents are good people, too.

Congrats. But couldn’t you try to add some drama for us? C’mon, I want to read something interesting and exciting. I want conflict and drama. Rewrite it.
What, you mean you people’s lives aren’t all just for my amusement? What the hell?

So, who around here’s actually left in the closet?

A-men, brother!

Congrats, and glad it went so smoothly.

On the issue of smileys, I’m with dpr:

I’m really glad I was between sips of coffee when I read that…:smiley:

It’s wonderful that you have such a loving, accepting family. Here’s to the day when all families will be as accepting as yours.

Freyr gives Doobieous the Hi-Five…

YES Congrats and having the courage to do it and having the good luck to have parents who are so open and accepting about it.

My own tale wasn’t tragic, but it had its own rough points. I ended up telling my own parents over the phone, as I was being discharged from the Navy for homosexual acts. My mother cried and bit and told me I’d not met the right women yet. “Mom,” I said, I don’t ANY women, in that way. My dad was just stern and tight-lipped.

Today, they’re both quite accepting about it. Mother asks me about my partner and Dad, while conservative, seems to accept it more openly. It could be worse, a LOT worse. :slight_smile:

Excellent news, Doob.

The existence of your parents make for an strong argument in favor of cloning. Would that all parents could be that way.

:smiley:

Congrat’s Doob!

One time when I was about your age, I did the same thing with my folks & they responded the same way as yours. I was only joking at the time, of course. But it was fun. Ya all might try it yourselves. Test the love of your folks.

Eh.

Pass me a beer.

Doob, way to go, brotha.

Now you’ll just have to tell my parent about what you’ve been doing to me. I’m not sure they’ll be as understanding though…

Congrats buddy, and a high-five to your parents.

Very, very cool, man. You oughta enter your folks in some “parents of the year” contest, like Marcia did with Mike in that Brady Bunch episode. I’m glad it went so well for you. Now get a boyfriend, fer Chrissakes.

Just to add my congratulations and thanksgiving that it went so well to all the rest…

And to make the obligatory wisecrack:

'Zat what they mean by “It takes a Village”? :confused:

Congrats Doob, to you and your fine parents!

It must be such a wonderful feeling to have that moment of trepidation over with. Have an especially ebulliant Spring, honey!
