Yeah, I was wondering about the free posting, but the subscription fee is nothing compared to the amount of entertainment I’ve had and knowledge I’ve gained here.
My username is in reference to an Elliot Smith song of the same name which I love and feel as if it was written about me.
I go back and forth between really spending a lot of time in one forum and grazing the rest. Right now I go to The Pit first. Great Debates really isn’t my cup of tea. As I get older I gravitate more towards IMHO and MPISMS.
It’s all good stuff though!
I really enjoy the opinions and humor here. I’ve laughed, I’ve cried, I’ve wasted many lonely days at work.

Welcome! It’s about damn time you got here. Mariah is getting testy. She hasn’t had a new [del]victim[/del], [del]plaything[/del], I mean friend…yeah, that’s the ticket…friend…in a long time. Just slowly and calmly make your way to room 310. The regular room is um, out of order pending a cleanup that no one wants to do. It’s like when roommates standoff over the dishes. Anyway, just go in there, sit down in the metal folding chair in the center of the room, and don’t look directly at the large tank in the corner. It will all be over soon. We’ll have that delicious looking pie when you get done. I’ll hold it for you.

I’m trying to remember when I started lurking. I know I became interested in the Straight Dope through Cecil’s column in middle school, but I don’t know when I started reading the boards. Throughout high school I got really addicted. I am now a 24 year old college grad. So maybe 10 years? Damn!

Good to have someone else from the great, underrated state of Indiana here. Although I actually hate Indianapolis, or most of it, anyway. But the rest of the state is good. Bloomington is the best. Well, except that you can’t smoke cigarettes in a bar. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, I mean, if you’re a pussy. Also, all the parking lots here seem to have been designed by the Special Ed class at Childs Elementary, there isn’t a shooting range in town (which, again, isn’t a bad thing, if you’re a pussy,) and there’s no IHOP here. I mean, what the fuck? Every little dickwater rest-stop shithole on the highway has an IHOP, and we can’t get one? Also, you can’t buy alcohol on Sunday, (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, if you’re an uptight square with a Bible stuck up your ass.) There’s always road construction everywhere, and it never gets finished (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, if you’re a construction worker, particularly one directly employed by the city public works, in which case you can get paid for driving around listening to Bob and Tom for 8 hours.)
Bloomington is awesome.

I just moved to Indianapolis a few months ago. I find the fixation on racing and sports incredibly annoying, but I have found my little niche here. It’s ok. I feel completely able to be myself and fulfill my desires and needs here.
I will have to disagree with you about the rest of the state being good. I was raised in Northwest Indiana, and I absolutely cannot stand that area. I went to school for a while in Vincennes, and that place is a major shithole! I just graduated from Ball State, and Muncie pretty much sucked too.
However, I have not spent much time in Bloomington. I hear nice things.
I am a smoker, I like to drink, and am definitely not a pussy, although I have a pussy. Thank goodness Indy is a very pet friendly city! It’s nice to be free to smoke in a bar and you can do that in Indy. Why don’t you like Indianapolis? There are shooting ranges and IHOPs here!

OK I guess I really just like Bloomington and Nashville and everything else in the southern part of the state. I hate the North. I hate Terre Haute. (It does have a good bar, Moggers, where you can smoke and order decent food.) The Northern part of the state is more like Illinois - the Southern part is more like Kentucky. The more south you go, the more scenic it becomes.
