I finally FREAKING got published!

After 13 rejection letters, I finally got a short story published! It’s in a small, fairly new online magazine based out of New Zealand, and I only got $4.75NZ, but it still counts, dammit! And, what’s more, I happen to like my story, so that’s pretty awesome, too. w00t!

It’s called “The Godsfather” (and that’s not a typo), it’s a fantasy short-ish story (~7500 words), and you can read it in the PDF at http://www.freewebs.com/semaphoremagazine/currentissue.htm

I’m totally looking for feedback, too. Either here in the thread, or private message (if you use the email address in my profile, though, I’m almost certainly not going to read it – I never check that email address). Negative and positive, seriously. I’m new at this writing thing, and I know I’m making beginner’s mistakes, but I don’t always know which new author mistakes I’m making.

And if you really liked the story (or really thought it sucked, I suppose), you can let the publishers of Semaphore know too by going to http://www.freewebs.com/semaphoremagazine/surveyissuefour.htm

Congratulations! I haven’t read it yet - have to get back to you on feedback.

A pretty good story! Let us know when you do some more - I’ll read it. (The zine looks good in general too, so I’ll read through it when I get some time.

Woohoo! Many congratulations!

Congratulations!

And here I thought this was going to be about some boring* chemistry paper.

I’ll read it when I have a spare moment. (So, in about two years…)

*and by “boring”, I mean “thrilling”.

Yay you! Well done! Wish I could read the story right now, but am at work.

Say, that’s not half bad. It started out a little cheesy, like reading the background story for a video game, but then it started rolling and ended up pretty good. You really sold the charactors to me by the end. All in all a good story, two thick greasy green thumbs up.

Congratulations! It’s a thrill to be published.

Now… write the next one. And then the next…
