I got published... sort of.

(Just to make sure, I checked with a Mod. and he gave me the ok for this…)
Just like in the title…

A few short stories I submitted for a project were picked up, and are being published!

But I’m not getting paid. In fact, nobody is.
Here’s the deal… it’s a book that is being sold as a fundraiser for ongoing Gulf Coast rebuilding and such.

The premise is a bit odd… well, how about I quote from the website:

I’m very excited for this whole thing, both because it’s the first time I’m getting put out in print, and because it’s for such a good cause.

Anyone interested in checking it out can see a sample story and ordering information HERE.

I’ve got to say, writing the ending of a story, while trying to provide enough backstory so that it makes sense was a unique challenge.

(I am Ray Brandle, I’ve got 2 stories in there… if anyone orders it, I’ll be happy to sign it if you send it to me. heheh)

Very cool.
You need to change the thread title to get rid of “sort of.”
Published is published. Congratulations.

Yes. That’s published: you were chosen for an anthology.

You didn’t have to pay for the privilege, which is good.

Indeed. Several people have said the same sort of thing… published is published.

I’m wondering if I should include this in a writers introduction letter when I finally start farming out my childrens book.

I love supershort stories. (the anthology “Sudden Fiction” is a favorite of mine)
Congratulations! Not only are you published, you are contributing to a great cause.

Congratulations!

Yes, you definitely should. This is a legitimate writing credit and should be claimed as such.

Congratulations!

Query letter. And yes, you should.

Excellent. Thank you both for the advice.

And also… Query letter. Noted.

(If you can’t tell, I’m pretty new to this whole thing… though I am reading more all the time)
