I find today's Dennis the Menace highly disturbing

Oh man, that’s friggin’ hysterical.

 Well, that was a nicely confusing experience. I thought perhaps you meant the Dennis the Menace that I knew of.

It’s probably not an overstatement to say that Dennis the Menace revolutionised the Beano, and, by extension, British comics in general. From the moment the strip arrived in 1951 the Beano entered a new era. Replacing Allan Morely’s rather more formulaic “Sammy’s Super Rubber” was, in the words of Bash Street creator Leo Baxendale, “a remarkable new character in an urban setting”. Within three years the comic had been invaded by a raft of other young characters that the readers could actually identify with - Minnie, Roger, The Bash Street Kids - and it all started here…

Oh, and I given the reputation of D.C. THompson company, I got a giggle out of the idea of a comic strip named “Sammy’s Super Rubber”.

Hmmm, who ripped off whom, I wonder. If both DtMs are approx. 50 years old, it’s quite a coincidence.

It might ber very funny to watch D.C. Thompson being sued for some kind of copyright infringement

HAH! See what Celen learned today!

wow

Damn, now I can’t find yesterday’s comic.

I too am seeing today DtM.

(Has anyone clipped out DtM for the fridge recently? On purpose?)

You mean besides that one?

The comic’s syndicate runs their comics two weeks after newspaper publication, so if you look here in about 13 days, it should be there.

Or, if you’re impatient, you can look here now.

I clicked that link and it shows a different strip: Dennis’ mom says, “Do you have a clue why I’m punishing you, Dennis?” And Dennis looks up hopefully and says, “You mean you forgot already?”

Neither Ferret Herder’s nor Uvula Donor’s link shows the strip with Mr. Wilson on the scale and Dennis looking up his towel. Maybe Ketcham or his syndicate realized this strip was drawing the wrong kind of attention and pulled it. I guess I’ll just have to use my imagination . . . . . . OK, I’m done now.

I have a friend who uploaded it into Yahoo Briefcase. Hopefully this link will work…

Thanks, SuperNova, your link works (and I just saved the .GIF so I can laugh at the little pervert forever.)

When I posted the link to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, the link was working. When I checked the link just now, the link itself still works - it will bring you to the correct page - but the picture is missing.

My guess is that the syndicate pulled the comic (hehheh…“pulled”) because the days bracketing that one are still working fine.

When I first saw the Thread Title I thought for sure it was going to be the one where Dennis complains to his mother about the lunch she packed for him:

“Hamsters, again?”

P.S. Right now it seems Uvula’s link is working again.
